We’ve been asked a few times recently for recommendations on where to go during the February Half Term with the kids.  These are places we have visited and loved, so we thought we would share to give you a little holiday planning inspiration.

Looking for the best places to go in the February half-term with kids? Whether you’re planning a UK half term break, a family holiday in Europe, or a sun-seeking winter getaway, February half-term is the perfect time to escape the routine and create unforgettable family memories.

Where To Go at February Half Term With the Kids

From warm weather destinations ideal for families to budget-friendly February school holidays and short breaks packed with kid-friendly attractions, this guide covers the top February half term destinations for families. No matter your children’s ages or travel style, you’ll find plenty of inspiration to help you plan the perfect February half-term holiday with kids.

1. Lanzarote or other Canary Island

We visited Lanzarote in November for a family holiday, and the weather was lovely. The temperature in February normally hovers around a comfortable 21°C, with averages of a degree or two warmer in the southern and western coastal resorts.  Nights can be rather chilly, though, with an average of 13°C.

2. Dubai

We had an amazing trip to Dubai in May and stayed at the Rixos on the Palm. Do check out our review.

We had a total blast at Rixos The Palm Dubai Hotel & Suites. We absolutely loved it. We loved it for many reasons, but mainly because the staff were exceptional. Without exception each and every member of staff we spoke to were beyond helpful, from organising taxis, making drinks and cocktails, serving dinner, cooking fab grilled steaks, cleaning our rooms, organising an early checkout with breakfast and hot coffee, they were all amazing. So thank you Rixos.

Atlantis in Dubai at February half term also comes highly recommended.

3. Pembrokeshire, Wales

We actually went to Pembrokeshire in March, but you can have loads of fun wrapping up warm and there are lots of indoor places to visit too. Bluestone is also in Pembrokeshire.

4. Skiing

It’s a traditional time of year to go skiing. Busy it may be, but you are likely to get very good snow.  Check out the Mark Warner hotels for a family-friendly holiday. Skiing is not just for Daddies.

5. Marrakech, Morocco

With a mix of good weather (mid twenties) and culture. Why not try a hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech in Morocco and head into the souks for a day of culture.  Temperatures hover around the twenties in February. Good spa treatments for Mum too! 72 hours in Marrakech.

For a more relaxed Moroccan alternative to Marrakech, instead head to the relaxed port town of Essaouira with it’s long stretch if sandy beach offering surf lessons, camel riding and quad biking, and a traffic-free medina, which is a UNESCO heritage site.

6. Centre Parcs or an Alternative

7. Portugal

Cooler than summer, undoubtedly, but you can still get sunny days for exploring. The family-friendly Martinhal receives rave reviews. We loved staying at the Martinhal Oriente, which is slightly outside Lisbon and offers the perfect haven from the buzz of the city, but only a short taxi ride away.

8. Disney Paris

Ok, you need to wrap up warm, but Disney Paris is magical at every time of year. February is a great time to visit Disneyland Paris, with fewer crowds and shorter ride queues. Plus, flights and accommodation are often more affordable.

We stayed in a fantastic 2-bedroom apartment, a 15-20 minute walk from the Disney Parks. It was modern and stylish in a gorgeous block with a full kitchen, the perfect place for a more affordable family stay.

9. Orlando

But if you want all the fun of the theme parks and a little sunshine, this is a great time to visit Orlando. The weather is around 24° C; prices are lower and crowd numbers are lower than in peak season. We stayed at Universals Sapphire Falls on our last visit; this is a great resort for families close to all the Universal parks.

10. Sri Lanka

It takes a bit of planning, but if you are looking for a dream trip, check out what we got up to during our recent trip to Sri Lanka. February is the dry season on the west and south coasts, as well as in the Cultural Triangle. This makes it perfect for exploring historical sites, relaxing on beaches, and going on wildlife safaris. Temperatures are warm but not unbearably hot, ranging from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F) in most areas.

11. Staycation

A UK staycation in February is an excellent option for families looking to make the most of the February half-term with kids without the cost or stress of travelling abroad. With lower accommodation prices, fewer crowds, and a wide range of family-friendly UK destinations.

February is a great time to enjoy everything from cosy countryside breaks and coastal escapes to exciting city staycations. Many popular attractions, including theme parks, museums, wildlife parks, and indoor activity centres, remain open throughout the February half-term, often with special events designed for children.
