I thought I had seen a lot of princesses at my daughter’s recent Frozen themed fourth birthday with 15+ princesses in my garden, however it was NOTHING compared to The Princess Proms.
Hundreds of princesses from 4 months to 44 (& beyond) arrived at the Bournemouth Pavillion on an unassuming hot Sunday afternoon in August. If you weren’t attending The Princess Proms, you might have wondered whether it was a princess convention!!

I wondered whether 2.5 hours of singing would be enough to keep my daughter’s attention and I have to say the performance exceeded my expectations.

From start to finish The Princess Proms is spectacular. From arrival, the stage is beautiful and of course in Bournemouth Pavilion this is amplified. Audience interaction is wonderful, keeping the children engaged and having fun. I did wonder how the songs would be tied together and the golden thread of was 5 key themes (courage and kindness are two of them) which need to be unlocked in order to start our ‘princess era’, which I am fully on board with I hasten to add!!
There were lots of Princess classics, from Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and more but my favourite was The Lion Kings’ ‘I just can’t wait to be king’ and to the embarrassment of my daughter, I sang ALL the words and loved it!!
As well as the exceptional singers, dancers on stage add another dimension, bringing the story of the music to life. As well as great lighting, smoke and fireworks (no loud bangs).
The Princesses; Georgi Mottram, Jasmine Faulkner and Samantha Thomas, all talented singers and performers in their own right, are exquisite. In Princess vibes, yes, but also in embodying empowerment for all girls and woman.
The Second act opened with ‘be our guest’ from Beauty & the Beast and lots more wonderful songs including a Swifty medley and more Frozen classics. One of the best quotes of the night was:
‘True strength is about following your heart no matter if people doubt you’.
Dancers joined again in the second act and were even more incredible (also where can I get a pair of those black sparkly trousers?!?). For princesses and princes, queens and kings this is truly a one of a kind performance and I whole heartedly recommend.
