We recently stayed at the Motel One on St. Peter’s Square. I have to say, when we booked it, I was apprehensive. I mean it’s right to be concerned when a city centre hotel is less than £80.00 and night. Ok, it was a midweek theatre break and last minute. But I decided to go with the flow as it looked okay on the pictures on the website.
Motel One on St. Peter’s Square is an excellent option. Located in the heart of the city, the hotel offers a great balance between affordability, modern amenities, and a central location, making it perfect for both business and leisure travellers.

Motel One boasts a prime location in the centre of Manchester, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic St. Peter’s Square. The hotel is only steps from the Palace Theatre, perfect for budget theatre breaks. Plus nearby to Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Central Library, and the historic Town Hall.
With several tram stops and bus routes nearby, getting around the city is easy, making it the perfect place for drinks, shopping and business. Top tip: Check out The Anthologist, which is a few doors down. It’s great for cocktails and food.

One of the standout features of Motel One is its chic, contemporary design. It’s just not what you expect of a budget hotel; I was blown away by its style. The lobby and bar area exudes a modern yet welcoming vibe, with stylish furniture and quirky decor that reflect Manchester’s rich industrial heritage. Natural materials, warm lighting, and dark, bold colour schemes create a cosy atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to unwind with a cocktail after a busy day shopping.
Rooms At The Motel One St. Peters Square
The rooms at Motel One are compact but thoughtfully designed, maximising the use of space without feeling cramped. The bed is comfortable, with plug sockets and charging points by the bed and a reading lamp, plus a well-lit workspace and a flat-screen TV.
The walls are woodchip, which is a little off-putting, but overall, our room was spotlessly clean and felt fresh. There is a kettle with tea and coffee and disposable cups for a well-needed morning coffee.
The en-suite bathrooms are super modern and fresh and are equipped with an amazing powerful rain shower and complimentary toiletries.
Service And Amenities
While Motel One St. Peter’s Square is a budget hotel, it doesn’t skimp on essential amenities. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and there’s a 24-hour front desk to assist with any queries.
