Last weekend, we nipped into the city for a Saturday of shopping and cocktails in Manchester at CitySuites II. Now, this isn’t abnormal; I spend a lot of time in Manchester. It’s a fabulous contrast from our sleepy village with not a single decent shop nearby. I love to spend time in the city.

However, it’s also essential to go and relax. So, we do make time in our chaotic schedules to book and spend the night in Manchester. This allows us to chill, shop, enjoy lazy lunches, and go for drinks without worrying about getting trains or buses home, which always puts a different spin on an evening.

CitySuites II Aparthotel is Located Right In The Heart Of Manchester

CitySuites II is a luxury apartment a stone’s throw from Marks and Spencer, Selfridges, and Harvey Nicks. So, it’s perfect for hitting the shopping areas without having to walk too far with shopping bags. And you don’t have to venture far for great food. The CitySuites complex has an incredible restaurant on site.

The great thing about the location is that you can nip back, whether it’s to drop shopping off, have a chill, or get changed for dinner. Or escape the rain like we had to on Saturday; we were near enough to nip back, have a glass of wine and watch people running for cover, but head back out shopping and drinks when the sun came out.

Parking Is Discounted When You Stay At CitySuites II

If you plan to bring the car, which is easier when travelling with kids, parking is discounted at the car park opposite, with concierge parking costing £18 for 24 hours. Alternatively, Victoria Station is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There is also a Sainsbury’s local opposite for any shopping you need to get.

Each room having a tv with Sky TV. But let us take you on a tour of our luxury two-bedroom apartment, room 1002, as it truly was a delightful home from home.

The Lounge And Dining Area

The lounge, kitchenette and dining area are all in one spacious open-plan room. There is plenty of light and great views of Manchester. I loved that the apartment had lamps, and the Sofas were comfy, perfect for creating a cosy vibe. We decided, after a day of shopping and evening meal, to retreat and enjoy the apartment with Glastonbury, a bottle of wine and chocolates. I know it’s not very rock n roll, but sometimes, when you work so hard, you want to chill.

This also makes it great for families, the Appartments are not far from the O2 Arena so perfect for a chill night after a family show.

The Kitchen In Our CitySuites II Apartment

The kitchen has what you need for a more extended city break, with everything you need to cook a meal: fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and cleaning supplies. Now, we had no plans of cooking; there is an excellent onsite restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but if we stayed for 2 or 3 nights, we might have considered it.

Two Bedrooms, One With An Ensuite and a Main Bathroom

The bedrooms were simple but luxurious, with fitted wardrobes, slippers, and bathrobes. The bed was super comfortable, with great-quality pillows (rubbish pillows can make or break a hotel.) The master bedroom had an ensuite with a double shower and luxury White Company Products.

The thing we really loved about the apartment was that not one window had a bad view. Living in the country, we have the most incredible views. However, you can’t beat a city view. There is so much to see; it’s always interesting.

Dining At CitySuites II

We ate dinner and breakfast at the Embankment Kitchen, which sits within the complex of CitySuites II. The restaurant has a relaxed, laid-back vibe yet is welcoming with excellent staff, who were so helpful. I am gluten-free, and nothing was too much trouble. As it’s also open to the public, this is a great dining spot in Manchester. And it has a great outside area too.

Breakfast, has so many choices. It’s not the average breakfast fare. Yes, you can get a full breakfast, but there’s also a choice of more a la carte offerings and the eggs were perfectly cooked. And extras, such as mimosas, making it feel more of a luxury breakfast experience you want to feel on a mini break.

Dinner was exceptional; the vibe was chilled, but the food was exciting. We opted for a lobster and fish sharing board with extra steak, and it was delicious. There was no feeling as if you were rushed, we were able to enjoy our food and wine and chat at a very chilled pace it was wonderful.

This is another huge reason to book CitySuites II; it has a gym, pool, steam room, and jacuzzi. Now, this is not something you find in every aparthotel. The pool area is stunning and the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.

In a heartbeat, this is a beautiful luxury apartment in the heart of Manchester’s shopping and bar district. If you want to take a city break, this is the perfect place. Great food, luxurious accommodation, a pool, and the shops. What else can you ask for?
