If you are heading to Billund for a family holiday and are currently planning your itinerary then let me encourage you to have a look at Wow Park and book it in for at least one, if not two, of your days. We recently returned from a 4 night stay at Lalandia and before visiting one of our concerns was if Wow Park Billund would be suitable for teenagers, seen as we were travelling with two of them! After spending a full day there with our three children aged 6, 13 and 16, we can safely say it was one of the few family days out we’ve had where all three kids genuinely had just as much fun as each other.

What is Wow Park Billund?

Wow Park Billund is an outdoor adventure play area spread out across woodland that spans further than 40 football pitches. It has been designed to encourage active play, climbing, sliding and exploring in nature and is a lovely contrast to the typical theme park vibe you can enjoy at Legoland giving you a holiday that offers so many different experiences in the space of a few days.

Wow Park is most famously known for it’s large slides, you can even find a model of them in Billund town centre opposite Lego house but as well as the slides there are so many more activities to try too, with most having been made so that older children, teenagers and even adults can get involved too.

The park is divided into 6 main areas, all of which are clearly signposted and colour co-ordinated making it very easy to find the areas you want, which is handy if you are short on time and have specific activities in mind.

Is Wow Park Billund suitable for teenagers? Our honest review

We drove over to Wow Park from Lalandia and were surprised to find that it took less than 10 minutes and the parking was free. We were slightly early so we walked over to the entrance and were impressed to find that even before you enter there are things set up to explore, climb and enjoy and it wasn’t the 6 year old that spotted them but the 13 year old who was straight up the tree trying to climb across the ropes, and that’s when I knew it was going to be a good day.

Once inside we were immediately taken back and impressed by the height of the activities. Instead of wondering if this was all going to be too little for the teenagers I started to worry if it was actually going to be too big for the 6 year old, although that fear didn’t last long as she ran off with her big brothers straight away and couldn’t wait to get started.

Wow Park is full of so many amazing activities, with something new everywhere you look and at every single station the teenagers were just as excited and willing to get involved as their little sister was. There was no standing round looking bored or checking phones, they were climbing, swinging, racing and challenging themselves and each other all day long. It honestly felt rare to find somewhere with equal amounts to do for such a wide age range and what was even better was that, we as parents, got involved too making memories that will definitely last a lifetime, even if most of those memories involve everyone laughing at me!

One of the overall favourite activities were there zip wires, we probably spent far longer on these than than any other area. They were genuinely so much fun, even for adults.

The slides were another highlight for the kids. They are huge, fast and surprisingly intimidating! Even our 6-year-old was brave enough to tackle them and absolutely loved every second. I, however, climbed all the way to the top, looked down once, and promptly did the walk of shame back down the stairs again because they were that high. I did manage some of the smaller ones though but only just.

The high nets and balls also deserve a mention as these resulted in lots of laughs as we tried to all stay up straight whilst dodging the giant balls, not an easy task at all.

There are also lots of climbing ropes, water pillows, hammocks, obstacle causes where you have to work together and even a basket ball game.

And if all of that isn’t enough you will even find an animal corner where you stop for a rest and enjoy some cuddles!

Overall, we would absolutely recommend Wow Park Billund as a family day out, especially if you have older children and teenagers. They definitely won’t be “too old” or “too big” for it. The only issue you might have is getting them to leave at the end of the day.

Top Tips for a day at Wow Park Billund

  • Bring your own food to save a bit of money, there are lots of places to sit and enjoy it.
  • Pack plenty of fluids, it’s thirsty work climbing, swinging, running and jumping.
  • Bring spare clothes, shoes and a towel if your children want to try the water activities as there’s a good chance they’ll end up getting wet.
  • Get the resort pass if staying for a more than a couple of days as this allows you to have unlimited access to Wow Park, Legoland, Lalandia and Givskud Zoo for the duration of your stay making it great value for money.
