There is something really magical about either passing down the nostalgia you feel for the books and films onto your own children or having watched them grow up during the height of the Harry Potter hype. And because of its longevity, Harry Potter themed hotels and Airbnbs are still very popular even now in 2023, so we’ve compiled a list of the best for you to choose from.

1. Harry Potter Themed Wizard Chambers at Georgian House Hotel, London

Concealed in the lower ground floor of the 19th century Georgian House Hotel in Pimlico, London, is a Wizards Chamber which is described as having a “mysterious and gothic feel”. The rooms feature castle-like features such as four poster beds with velvet curtains, stained glass windows and stone walls. There are also wood burning stoves, cauldrons in the fireplaces and tapestries to make you feel like you’re sleeping in Hogwarts. On weekends the hotel also offers an Enchanted Afternoon Tea and Wizard Potion Making, just what you need to ignite that magic!

2.  Gryffindor Dorm Room Cottage, North Shire, Liverton, North Yorkshire

Perfect for families or a group of friends, the Northshire boasts a magical cottage which has been designed to replicate the castle turret dorm room of a certain Mr Potter! Inside the cottage you will find six single sized four poster beds, a grand fireplace, stained glass and flickering candles. The cottage also has its own kitchen, living area and bathroom, it really is a unique and spectacular experience.

3. Groundskeepers Cottage, North Shire, Liverton, North Yorkshire

On the same property as the Gryffindor Dorm Room Cottage you will find the GroundsKeepers Cottage which is structured as three interlocking circular rooms, with square medieval-looking turrets and mismatched stained-glass windows. It also has a stooped doorway which is lit by lanterns and is surrounded by fields which lead to views of the Yorkshire coast. The cottage has a beautiful fireplace, a regal looking dining area and just wait till you see the bath!

4. Harry’s House, Watford

Located just a 10 minute drive from the Warner Bros’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter Studios, Harry’s House is a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment which is decorated with all things Hogwarts related, such as house flags, ‘floating’ candles, wands and feathers. The apartment also includes a kitchen and dining area, a flat-screen TV and a patio with garden views. The apartment can be booked via booking.com and has excellent reviews, with previous visitors describing their stay as “top class”.

5. Magical Harry Potter Inspired Flat, West Bow, Edinburgh

Right in the centre of Edinburgh, the beautiful city where JK Rowling actually wrote the majority of Harry Potter, just 200m from the Royal Mile, 600m from Edinburgh Castle and 900m from the Edinburgh Playhouse, is this gem. The one bedroom flat not only features city views, an equipped kitchen and an en suite, but its interior is inspired by the Harry Potter series. With themed decorations such as book shelves, ‘Diagon Alley’ signposts, a four poster bed made by tree branches and deer antlers hanging on the wall, you’ll feel like you’re in a whole other world.

6. A Magical World of Wizards & Witches, Tagaytay, Philippines

If you’re looking to push the boat out and have a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience, then this Airbnb might be perfect for you. In this fantastic apartment in Tagaytay, the Philippines, you will find a huge bedroom with three double beds and one floor mattress inside, a kitchen and bathroom, as well as a communal swimming pool in the building too. The Wizarding Home is only 10 miles away from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, six miles away from Disney World and 18 miles from downtown Orlando but the town in which it is situated is described as a quiet residential neighbourhood. The attention to detail is amazing with castle-like features, scarves for each house hanging on the wall, a grand dining table surrounded by suits of armour and of course, the floating candles. With over 250 reviews, this Airbnb has an impressive 4.82 out of 5 stars.

8. De Vere House (Godric’s Hollow), Lavenham, England

This is a luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in the county of Suffolk which is particularly special due it featuring in the Harry Potter films in the fictional town of Godric’s Hollow (where Harry’s parents lived). De Vere House was given a Gold Award by Visit Britain in 2010 and is located in the centre of Lavenham, a medieval village which has plenty of history, a great community and lovely boutiques, restaurants and shops. The BnB features two four poster bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a private guest sitting room with log fire and courtyard garden and you even get a full English breakfast in the dining room of the main house. 9. Harry Potter Themed Airbnb, Colmar, France

Thought to be the inspiration for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Colmar is a beautiful village in the north-east of France with colourful houses and a canal to make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale. So if you’re looking for somewhere new to visit but are also keen to experience Harry Potter themed accommodation, then look no further. This Airbnb- The Wizard’s Gite, can host four guests with two bedrooms and lots of amenities, and you’re even allowed to bring pets! The rooms are decorated fantastically with a Gryffindor-esque, including dark brown leather couches, flags hanging on the stone walls, and framed photographs covering the hallways.

10. JK Rowling Suite, Balmoral House, Edinburgh

If you want to feel really magical, this room is said to be the exact room where JK Rowling finished writing the Deathly Hallows. The luxurious suite sleeps two people in a king-sized bed which can be twinned, and if you’re planning a family trip, two extra beds for children are available upon request (you can book this room here).
