Download the Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife App before you go! You can book restaurants and entertainment shows 5 days before you go and you’ll want to do that to get times that suit you.

Overall, if you have a young family (Under 8) this hotel is ideal; for me it’s more a 4* hotel, rather than a 5* but still excellent value for money.

Where is Bahia Principe Tenerife?

On the South Coast of Tenerife within a 5 minute drive of the airport.

Bahia Principe Tenerife perfect for a Family of 5

We mainly decided to book this hotel as Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife is perfect for a family of five. The Master Suites sleep 5 more than comfortably, with a sliding door between the main bedroom and the sleeping area for the kids. When pricing up similar hotels for a family of five, the Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife came out considerably cheaper as we didn’t have to book two rooms.

You can book directly with the hotel, with a travel company like Jet2 or with booking.com.

Rooms at Bahia Principe Tenerife

If staying in a family master suite with 2 adults and 3 kids. What is the bed set up?

2 kids on the double sofa bed and one on the single bed underneath.

The master suites have a bath and a shower and two toilets. Others have recommended packing a shower mat for the bath/shower as the floor can get slippy.

Free Wifi (up to 4 devices per room.)

The mini bar has beers and juice in it when you arrive but doesn’t get topped up. It gets replenished with water daily.

Cleanliness at Bahia Principe Tenerife

This is the place I think Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife shines. The hotel is absolutely spotless. It is consistently being cleaned, the housekeeping is exceptional and we even saw rooms getting a quick lick of paint in-between guests.

We literally couldn’t fault this area at all.

Pools at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

There are 7 swimming pools, yes 7.

  • 5 swimming pools (heated water in one of the swimming pool during winter)
  • 1 infinity pool for adults (+18)
  • 2 outdoor swimming pools for children (heated water during winter)

Are the pools slippy at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife?

It is slippy around the pool. You’ll likely read lots of reviews suggesting they’ve seen people take bad falls. So our advice would be to use pool shoes. We all used these ones by Slipfree.co.uk and the kids never took them off, really easy to swim in and stopped them from taking a fall.

Sunbeds

During half term you really needed to reserve your sunbed with towels quite early in the morning. Before 8.30am. There are enough sun beds but not all of them get the sun all day so those around the warmer top pools get filled up pretty quickly.

TIP: You can change your free blue pool towels daily.

Water temperature at Bahia Principe Tenerife

Only two of the pools are heated. Again in the reviews you’ll see lots of chat about whether a shorty wet suit is needed in December through to March. We took them with us for the kids (as we already had them) and wore them one day, but probably only really necessary for the babies and toddlers unless you already know your kids struggle with coldish water.

We saw other children wearing thermal swim vests which again looked like they did the job!

What is the minimum age for the Infinity pool at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife?

18 is the minimum age, they were pretty strict on it when we were there.

How much are the double sun beds around the pool with drapes?

In 2022 they were €30 and you get a bottle of Prosecco along with crisps. They deliver the prosecco at 11am or 3pm your choice.

Kids Clubs at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

Technically the kids club is up to 12, but we would say kids over 8 didn’t seem to go.

You can drop off 10am till 12pm and then drop off at 2pm for the afternoon. Or you can just let them go for specific sessions.

Kids club is for 3 plus but if younger they can go if you stay with them.

Teens Room at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

No organised activities for tweens/teens. The teen room is open until 8pm and they can come and go. Would have been useful if open in the evening once its dark so the kids could hang out.

Restaurants at Bahia Principe Tenerife

Dress code for evening meals?

Smart/chino shorts or jeans are all ok for the Al la carte restaurants.

Food in the buffet restaurants at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

Varied certainly, but not always hot hot. A similar criticism can be levelled at lots of buffet restaurants .

Allergies – Speak to customer services on arrival and they will assist. Coeliac, lactose and fructose intolerant needs catered for. Lots of other options. Just make yourself known and ask for specifics and you will be helped.

Vegan would have been tricky in my opinion, vegetarian fine. Lots of choice.

Al a Carte restaurants at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

You get 3 Al a carte meals over seven days. 4 over 10 nights. You can book these on the app before you go. They do get booked up and we tried to change our reservations whilst we were there. They allow it but we couldn’t change for anything suitable. So choose carefully.

We enjoyed the service in all three restaurants.

Top Tip: You can get sushi in the Japanese restaurant but its not on the menu.

You can get garlic bread in the Irtalian but it;s not on the menu either.

Drinks at Bahia Principe Tenerife

What is the all inclusive beer at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife?

It’s San Miguel. You can help yourself from taps around the pool all day.

Tip – grab a plastic glass from the adult only bar to drink it from in the day time… otherwise it’s rubbish paper cups around the family pools OR bring a reusable cup with you to use.

Cocktails are great at the lounge bar and the sports bar. You can also get them at the pool bars in plastic cups.

Soft drinks – machines all around the pool area to help yourself to coke, coke zero, fanta, sprite etc. Also fruit drinks and water.

Slushies can be got from the pool bar from 12pm-6pm.

No straws, we took our own straws for slushies and cocktails.

Celebrating a special occasion at Bahia Principe Tenerife?

Don’t forget to tell them it you are celebrating a special occasion as they will often put a sign on your door and leave you some treats.

You can ask for a name to be lit on the Castle. Birthdays anniversaries any special occasion. There is a cost £20. You can also email the reception before you arrive as it does fill up quickly. Email address at the bottom of the post.

You can also order a cake for the A la carte restaurants, or just take candles and ask them to put on the dessert.

If you want a special treat you can hire the VIP room at the top of the Castle for £400 a night.

Is there anything close by Bahia Principe Tenerife?

San Blas. Front of hotel turn right. Then right again and it’s at the end of the road. The square is on the left … opposite square is entrance to coastal walk by the side of the white hotel.

We also wandered up Montana Roja

Is there an ATM near the Bahia Principe Tenerife?

Yes just over the road from the hotel there is an ATM.

How much is a taxi from the airport to Bahia Principe Tenerife?

You can book through the hotel, 5 adults and 1 child great service, return journey was £78.

We got a taxi for 7 of us directly outside the airport. There were loads waiting in October and it was €15 each way

Airport noise at Bahia Principe Tenerife?

This hotel is situated very near the airport , so is it very noisy with air traffic? No definitely not but you do see the planes.
