When we arrived in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote I was lucky enough to be contacted by a reader who visits Lanzarote a few times as year and she gave me her own list of recommended restaurants and bars in Lanzarote so we could use it and she very kindly said I could share it with you too.
So here are 36 of their recommended restaurants in Lanzarote, most close to the Southern end of the island, close to Playa Blanca.
Restaurants to try at Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote
EL MIRADOR– Modern, contemporary restaurant with a fantastic view over Playa Blanca. A bit more expensive than other restaurants in the Marina but also does a very good tapas menu before 6pm.
BLUE NOTE– Very good modern bar & restaurant with live jazz most evenings.
LA PETIT MARMITE– at the far end of the marina… great family run restaurant. Amazing fresh fish, suckling pig and shoulder of lamb!
LANI’S SNACK BAR– good for lunch. Don’t confuse it with the bigger Lani’s restaurant next door which is terrible! Avoid!
EL BERRUGO– Lively tapas bar open late with live music. Good late night atmosphere!
LA COCINA DE COLACHO– Near Marina Rubicon on the main road from town just after the roundabout on your right hand side. Fine dining. The best restaurant we’ve been to in Lanzarote! Very expensive for the island but well worth it! Extremely friendly Spanish owners with a passion to deliver a fabulous meal & dining experience! Only open on Monday-Thursday evenings. The toilets are an experience! I’ll leave it for you to find out! A fabulous restaurant!!
Favourite restaurants in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote
ROMANTICA– One of our favourites! As you go down the hill into town at the mini roundabout you will find Romantica on the right hand side before the Taxi Rank. Very good steak and lamb! If you want a table with a sea view you will need to book in advance.
LOS HERVIDEROS– Another favourite! The oldest restaurant in Playa Blanca. Rustic décor but excellent food especially the Mussels and Chateaubriand! Closed on Thursdays and Sundays. Situated off the main Road through Playa Blanca behind the Pharmacy
BRISAS MARINA– on the seafront near Tipico Canario. Good Paella and good service.
CASALE FRANCO– excellent authentic Italian restaurant. Family run. Above Burger King in the commercial Papagayo centre near the Princess Yaiza hotel between town & the marina. Easy access from the coastal path.
EL PEREGRINO- In the back streets passed the Post office going towards the port on the right. Tapas bar full of friendly Spanish locals and sometimes friendly Brits too!
LA CHALONITA– on the seafront going from the town centre towards the port – upstairs- good food but inside seating only. Great steaks and flambé dishes.
IMAGINE INDIAN– very good Indian restaurant
CASA CARLOS– on the edge of Playa Blanca past the marina roundabout towards Papagayo. Very good restaurant serving excellent meats & fresh fish dishes. Extensive menu with an excellent range of daily specials. High quality food at fair prices in a casual setting.
Restaurants in Playa Blanca (La Mulata area near Rubicon Palace Hotel)
LUNA ROSSA- Excellent Italian food in a casual setting. Large portions served in a very relaxed setting. Has indoor and also outdoor balcony seating with fantastic sea views. Excellent value for money with very friendly staff!
SEBASTYANS- Nice Greek and Mediterranean food. Tranquil atmosphere with pleasant but perhaps more formal service. Excellent sea views.
NATURA BEACH RESTAURANT- Casual restaurant on the seafront with excellent sea views. Best Paella in our opinion outside of El Golfo!
LA MAREA- Contemporary cocktail bar with live music most evenings. Lovely seafront position!
Recommended restauarnts in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote
L’AMURA- stunning Michelin star restaurant at the end of the Marina. All white canopies and tables etc. Service is excellent. Food fantastic- Lovely for a Romantic meal for two!
TABERNA DEL PUERTO- Good Spanish restaurant and Tapas.
restaurants to visit in El Golfo- Canarian fishing village in Lanzarote
Costa Azul- once you go down the hill into El Golfo you will see a large area where cars park. Costa Azul is the 1st restaurant on the seafront. Catch of the day and great tapas and Paella.
We also like the last restaurant on the right hand side…. Can’t remember its name but it is also very good for fish, tapas and paella, with good service too!
Accordingly, most restaurants in El Golfo are good but we have yet to try the rest!
Recommended restaurant in Nazaret, Lanzarote
LAGOMAR- Omar Sharif’s house that he lost in a card game! Now a museum and restaurant and well worth a visit. Journey time approx 45mins.
Recommended restaurant in Macher, Lanzarote
LA CABAÑA- Excellent food although a very small restaurant [advisable to book].
Recommended restaurants in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote
LA CASCADA DEL PUERTO & LA BODEGA- Calle Roque Nublo 5. On the road leading to the old harbour from the main area of Puerto del Carmen. Good authentic spanish cuisine. Both restaurans are next door to each other with the same menu but La Bodega is more intimate. No need to book but earlier dining is recommended to secure a table! Live spanish music most evenings.
TABERNA DEL NINO- further down the road to the old town harbour. Overlooks the harbour car park. Great contemporary tapas & main Spanish menu too. Worth a visit if you go to the old town.
ASIA DELICIOUS- excellent Asian food, Thai, Chinese & fresh Sushi. Reasonable prices & very friendly staff.
Recommended restaurant in Yaiza, Lanzarote
LA BODEGA DE Santiago- Upmarket Spanish restaurant in a rustic setting. Restored Canarian house with inside & outside dining. Outside there is a huge Ficus tree, one of the biggest on the island, fantastic for some shade to dine al fresco. Regularly nominated as one of the best restaurants in the Canary Islands. Typical Canarian cuisine using fresh local ingredients.
