In my experience, KidZania is one of the places you shouldn’t miss in Tokyo – the concept is just so unique, I’m not sure you’d be able to find anything like it anywhere else in the world.
At KidZania, your little ones can play pretend in their own mini-city – they’ll try being doctors, put out pretend fires, or bake bread.
It’s adorable watching them take their jobs so seriously, and they even get paid in special KidZania money, which they can then use for other activities!
While the kids are having the time of their lives, you can actually relax in the parents’ lounge (yes, actually relax – I’m not just saying that!).

teamLab Borderless, once in Odaiba but now in Azabudai Hills, is essentially a digital museum, created by art collective teamLab.
You’ll find yourself in what feels like a digital wonderland. Rooms full of swirling lights and colors that change when you touch them, traveling to other rooms… my friend’s toddler was absolutely spellbound by it.
It’s one of those rare places that’s just as fascinating for adults as it is for children. The digital forests with their twinkling lights are especially magical – photos and videos just don’t do it justice!

3. The Magical Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea
If you’re heading to Tokyo with children, you obviously can’t skip Disney – but here’s the thing: you’ve actually got two parks to choose from.
Disneyland is perfect for little ones, with classics like It’s a Small World (which never gets old, honestly). But DisneySea is pretty special too – it’s got this whole nautical theme going on that even grown-ups love.
Both parks are super well-set up for families – you can rent prams, there are plenty of spots to change diapers, and lots of shady areas when everyone needs a break (trust me, you’ll need it – Japan gets very hot and humid).

4. Play and Learn at the Tokyo Toy Museum
The Tokyo Toy Museum is a bit of a hidden gem – it’s a lovely, old, converted school building in Shinjuku filled with toys from all over the world.
Your children can play with traditional Japanese toys you probably won’t see anywhere else, while you check out some truly nostalgic objects from back in the day.
It’s got a really warm, cosy vibe that makes you want to spend the whole afternoon there!

5. Relax in Tokyo’s Parks and Gardens
When you need a break from the busy city, Tokyo’s parks are lifesavers. Yoyogi Park is huge and always has something going on – street performers on weekends, plenty of space for picnics, and playgrounds where the children can burn off energy.
But if you want something a little more peaceful, check out Rikugien Garden. It’s a beautiful traditional Japanese garden where you can feed the koi fish and just wander around, taking in the stunning scenery.
Both spots are perfect when your little ones need some fresh air and room to run around.

They’ve got shallow baths that are safe for children, and you’ll all get to wear the traditional Japanese robes called yukata. It’s a fun way to experience Japanese bath culture with the whole family!

7. Japan’s Zoos and Aquariums

And Ueno Zoo is a classic for a reason – the giant pandas tend to be the stars of the show, but there’s tonnes more to see.
Make a day of it by exploring Ueno Park while you’re there. Both places are great for keeping toddlers entertained without overwhelming them.
