We have recently returned from a stunning Caribbean cruise aboard Celebrity Apex, sailing out of Fort Lauderdale on a fantastic itinerary that included stops in Key West, Florida, and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We were excited to check out this Celebrity’s cool Infinite Balcony cabin since we love modern and comfy spaces.

Infinite Balcony Cabin 8290 on Celebrity Apex

For our stay, we went with cabin 8290. From the moment we stepped inside our Celebrity Apex Infinite Balcony Cabin, we were impressed by the sleek, contemporary design and the feeling of extra space created by the unique Infinity Balcony concept. There has been much debate about Infinity Balcony Cabins, which people either love or hate.

Over the course of our cruise, we experienced both the pros and cons of this cabin type, from its fantastic storage and luxurious bathroom to the frustrating lack of accessible plug sockets. In this review, we’ll share our full experience, what we loved, what could be improved, and whether we’d book an Infinite Balcony cabin again.

A Fantastic Location for Peace & Privacy

One of the best things about cabin 8290 was its forward location. Situated away from the busy areas of the ship, it offered a peaceful retreat, free from foot traffic and noise. If you prefer a quieter space to unwind after a day of exploring or relaxing on board, this cabin’s positioning is ideal.

The Infinite Balcony Cabin, A Game-Changer for Space

The standout feature of this cabin is undoubtedly the Infinite Balcony. Unlike a traditional balcony, this design seamlessly extends your living space . With the divider open, the room felt much larger and airier. It was great to have the flexibility to enjoy the open space when we wanted fresh air while keeping the option to close it off when needed.

For anyone who enjoys panoramic ocean views and a modern take on balcony design, this is a fantastic feature that enhances the overall cruise experience. We felt it made the cabin more spacious.

Storage & Practicality In Our Infinite Balcony Cabin

We found the storage in the cabin to be well thought out, with plenty of space for clothes, shoes, and other essentials. It made it easy to keep everything organised throughout the cruise.

However, one small downside was the safe. While it was useful for securing valuables, it was not big enough for a laptop.

Plug Sockets, The One Letdown In The Infinite Balcony Cabin

One major downside of the cabin was the lack of convenient plug sockets.

• There was only one plug on one side of the bed, but not the other.
• The larger socket box located at the vanity area was supposed to be a practical addition, but unfortunately, it didn’t fit UK plugs properly. This was particularly frustrating when trying to use a Dyson Airwrap, as it wouldn’t plug in securely. Although there were 2 USB outlets in there.

It might be worth bringing an adapter to make things easier. But it needs to be a deep one. The only place a UK hair appliance will work is in the EU socket adaptor in the box. But it’s deep, and you can’t fit the plug flex in without breaking it. I am considering buying a cordless brush dryer for my next cruise.

Although I was able to charge my laptop from the bedside plug, my Airwrap and straighteners did not work there.

The Vanity Area Is Well-Designed

A standout feature of the Infinity balcony cabin was the vanity area, which was thoughtfully designed with a large mirror and built-in lighting, making it perfect for getting ready. The lighting was bright enough for applying makeup or styling hair, and the additional drawers provided extra storage.

Modern Technology, Auto Lights & Electric Blinds In The Infinite Balcony Cabin

A feature we appreciated was the electric panel that automatically controlled the lighting and blinds. It was easy to adjust the settings with just the touch of a button, adding a high-tech, modern touch to the cabin. This was an excellent feature, especially when transitioning from daytime to evening.

A Spacious & Well-Designed Bathroom

The bathroom in the Infinite Balcony Cabin was exceptionally well-designed compared to standard cruise ship bathrooms. Some highlights included:

• High-quality toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, shower get and body lotion, which added a touch of luxury.
• A large corner shower, making it feel much more comfortable than the usual compact cruise showers.

For those who value a bit of extra space and comfort in a cruise bathroom, this was a definite plus.

Mini-Bar, Convenient but Costs Extra

The cabin came with a stocked mini-bar, which was a convenient touch, especially for those who like having drinks and snacks within easy reach. It included soft drinks, bottled water, wine, and spirits.

However, it’s important to note that these items are not included in the standard cruise fare and come at an additional cost. If you plan to enjoy drinks frequently, it might be more cost-effective to purchase a drinks package instead. While we didn’t use it, it was nice to have the option.

Would We Book An Infinite Cabin Again?

Overall, cabin 8290 on Celebrity Apex was a fantastic choice. The Infinite Balcony made the room feel much bigger and gave us beautiful views throughout the cruise. The storage and bathroom were well-designed, and the modern technology was a nice bonus.

The one negative was the plug situation, which could definitely be improved for better convenience. However, this wouldn’t stop us from booking an Infinity Balcony Cabin again in the future. Would we recommend it? Absolutely! Just remember to bring an adapter if you’re using UK plugs.
