If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona and want to stay somewhere central, stylish, and perfect for a couple’s weekend away or pre-cruise break, the Hotel H10 Madison might be the perfect spot. Just steps away from the Gothic Quarter, this super stylish hotel is set in the most wonderful historic building and packed with amenities like a rooftop pool and bar, making it the perfect choice for a city break. We had such a fabulous stay in the heart of the city. Here’s our full review based on our recent visit.
The H10 Maddison Barcelona, Hotel With A Rooftop Bar Near The Gothic Quarter
We chose the H10 Madison because of its brilliant location. It is just a short stroll from the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Cathedral, and bustling Plaça de Catalunya. This central setting made it easy for us to explore key sights on foot, do a food tour of the Gothic Quarter, and easily walk to Las Ramblas (a 30-minute walk from the hotel). It really is the most wonderful location. We were right in the middle of the action, yet we were tucked on a little street with not as much footfall.

We flew into Barcelona on an early flight and arranged our airport transfer with Welcome Pickups, and our driver was waiting for us at the airport. Making transfers quick and easy.
Hotel Reception and Warm Greeting
From the moment we walked through the doors, the welcome was warm and professional. The reception area is modern and airy, with friendly staff ready to help with check-in and offer advice on things to do in the area. The stylish entrance has comfy seating areas, water, Cava, and juice available should you want a drink.
As we had an early flight, we arrived at noon. This was not a problem as the hotel happily stored our luggage once we checked in and told us they would email us when the room was ready. Now, Barcelona is a city that keeps you busy, and by the time we had toured Sagrada with the brilliant Walks Tours, we did not get back to the hotel till 4 pm and were delighted to find our luggage had been taken to our room. It’s touches like this that make a hotel stand out.
Our Room Was Elegant, Comfortable and Quiet
Our room was a welcome retreat after a busy day exploring Barcelona. Tastefully decorated in calming tones with modern touches, it felt luxurious but not over the top. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and despite being so central, the room was quiet, ideal for a good night’s sleep. However, one of my favourite things about the hotel was the balcony view over the Cathedral, it was glorious standing on there in the morning listening to the Sunday Cathedral bell ringing.

The H10 Madison Has A Stylish Bathroom
The bathroom continued the sleek design theme, featuring high-end fixtures, a rainfall shower, and generous toiletries. Everything felt spotlessly clean and thoughtfully arranged, with good lighting and plenty of space. Plus, the most gorgeous products that smelled divine. It really feels like the H10 Madison has thought of everything.
In-Room Tea, Coffee, and Water Included Plud A Mini Bar (Extras Charged)
One of the nice touches we appreciated was the complimentary tea and coffee station in the room, along with bottled water. It’s always a bonus to have this without extra charges, especially after travelling.
The mini bar was well stocked with drinks and snacks, though as expected, these were at an additional cost. Still, it’s convenient to have, and we liked that the items were clearly priced to avoid surprises.
Rooftop Bar and Pool with a View of Barcelona
One of the hotel’s highlights has to be the rooftop area. The bar offers panoramic views over the Gothic Quarter, and the small pool is a refreshing treat after a hot day sightseeing. It’s not a full-size pool, but it’s perfect for a dip and some downtime and has sunbeds around one side. The bar serves drinks and food, making it a great spot to unwind.
Would We Recommend The H10 Madison in Barcelona?
Yes, we have often stayed in Barcelona, and the H10 Madison offers everything you could need in a hotel. The location is incredible, and the service and breakfast are wonderful.
I didn’t get photos of the breakfast as the dining room was busy, but the selection was delicious, with hot and cold options from a buffet and menu. Plus the obligitory mimossa. I don’t normally do this, as I like to try new hotels and locations, but this is a hotel I will be booking again.
