Yes that’s right it’s FREE. To be honest there aren’t many places you can visit in Milan that are good value for money, or cheap. There are very few that are FREE, so for that reason alone it makes it a good reason to visit the Monumental Cemetery in Milan with kids.
Experience a unique setting
The Monumental Cemetery has wide open spaces that offers a break from the hustle and bustle (and frankly chaos at times) of the city. Kids can enjoy the outdoor space while their parents explore the architectural magnificance of some of the tombs. Whilst we wouldn’t suggest that kids run around screaming, its a cemetery after all, it does offer a more relaxed space that that of an air conditioned art gallery with wardens on every corner.

It is an excellent place for children to learn about the city’s past, including the many historical figures buried there and the elaborate tombs and mausoleums constructed in their honour. The tombs at this Milan burial ground offer a great glimpse of Italian artistic styles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Monumental Cemetery is also a stunning art gallery with intricate sculptures, mosaics, and frescoes that tell stories of the lives of those who are buried there.
