Kindness Rocks UK – Families Are Penning Positive Messages On Rocks And Hiding Them All Over The UK

This morning a good friend of mine sent me a link to an article in the Huffington Post about Kindness Rocks.

It was one of those sunny days where we really wanted to head out for a long walk but after a week walking round Porto we knew the girls weren’t going to be very excited about the prospect. The article about Kindness Rocks gave us the perfect excuse to get out.

So what are Kindness Rocks?

Kindness Rocks is an initiative which started in the US, but soon found its way to the UK. The idea is that people write and draw on pebbles and leave them in places where people will find them. Strangers find the rocks, smile and then either take them home, or they hide them again. You’re also encouraged to make more of your own.

So we set about making some Kindness Rocks at home so we could get out on a long walk and enjoy the sunny yet cold day.

How do you find the Kindness Rocks?

Well some areas have more than others so you’re more likely to find them, but there are also facebook groups you can join that help you find them.

There is a large UK group I found which you can find here, and then people have set up local groups. I have just literally set up a Kindness Rocks Wirral UK facebook group which I’d love you to join if I’m local to you, but have a search around to see if there is a group near you. It only really works if lots of people get involved.  According to the Huffington Post “The groups vary in size: Reading has just over 800 members, Salisbury has 1,300 while Norfolk and Tyneside’s groups operate on another level entirely, with over 37,000 members and 27,000 members respectively.”

Where should you put Kindness Rocks?

You can put Kindness Rocks anywhere in reality, but you want them to be where people can find them and are likely to be walking past.

This first time out we chose some locations on a walk that we often see other people on, we left them on a park bench, near the sun dial and in a tree that the kids always play on, but in reality you can put them anywhere!

We loved our day making Kindness Rocks and then putting them out, and even extended our walk to collect more stones to decorate.

Why not join in with a local Kindness Rocks group!

What a fun thing to do. An activity at home and a lovely walk in the sunshine too. It’s a win win situation xx

ah I think you are missing the point, it isn;t littering as the stones would be there anyway, they are simply painted versions.
