We love Corfu and the last time we went we stayed at the amazing Bella Mare Hotel. Nestled within the tranquil waters of the Ionian Sea, the island of Corfu has attracted tourists for years. If you’re planning a trip in the near future then take a look at some of the top attractions in Corfu so that you’ll have the best holiday possible.

The Aqualand Water Park, Corfu

Why not begin with a destination that is ideal for children and adults alike? The massive Aqualand Water Park is one of the largest in Europe, offers over 50 slides. There are also plenty of on-site activities such as restaurants, open-air cocktail bars and baby changing rooms. Note that this water park is open throughout the year and it can represent a welcome respite from the sun during the hot summer months.

Glyfada Beach

This next idyllic location offers picturesque seaside views, it’s a paradise in Corfu. Glyfada Beach can be reached from the Corfu Old Town in less than 30 minutes and its calm waters are perfectly suited for a variety of maritime activities. Why not consider a professional Corfu boat hire service, as this will provide even more stunning views of the region while enabling you to avoid the throngs of tourists that sometimes frequent Glyfada Beach.

The Old Town

Some visitors will argue that the Old Town in Corfu Town is actually its most attractive destination. It is possible to spend hours strolling through its winding streets and marvelling at ancient Venetian architecture. There are plenty of souvenir shops, quaint cafes, and restaurants to enjoy. Visiting the Old Town is an excellent way to obtain an up-close-and-personal appreciation of the historic roots associated with Corfu and there are numerous opportunities to snap a handful of photos along the way.

The Achilleion Palace

The island of Corfu is laden with ancient myths and one stunning example of this observation involves the Achilleion Palace. As you might have guessed, this palace is centred around the legend of Achilles and his tragic tale. It was originally constructed in the late 19th century and the architecture clearly echoes such a timeless flavour. It is possible to tour the many refurbished rooms found within its confines and be sure to take a moment to appreciate a large statue of Achilles found within the central courtyard.

These are only four examples of why Corfu has become such a popular international tourist destination. Whether you are interested in its rich history, its family-friendly activities, or you wish nothing more than to enjoy a bit of downtime, Corfu certainly aims to please. This amazing Mediterranean paradise is indeed much closer than you may think!
