There is something really magical about visiting the Eden Project at Christmas time.
Especially as we were lucky enough to go in the evening when the biomes were lit up with an incredible light and soundscape. The biomes looked breathtaking as we walked down from the entrance, but they turned out to be even more amazing when we got inside.

The combination of light installations, lasers and music made it feel like we were stepping into another world. Even though we’ve walked around the Rainforest and Mediterranean biomes before – it really did feel like a completely new experience at night.
After exploring the biomes, we went to meet Father Christmas for an interactive 40 minute show. As well as lots of festive songs and games with the elves, there was also the chance to send a wish to Santa. Afterwards we also got to meet the big man himself for a photo and my boys were given a small gift and a ticket to go on the vintage carousel too.
Both my boys loved the carousel – tickets can be bought for £2 a go if you haven’t also been to see Father Christmas.
My children’s favourite thing to do at the Eden Project this Christmas was probably the ice skating though. They both absolutely loved having the chance to skate around the only ice rink in Cornwall for 40 minutes.
Ice skating is available until 23rd February 2025 and tickets include boot hire. Skate aids can also be booked for any kids who might need them. Parent and toddler ice play sessions are also available on selected days.
If you’re looking for refreshments, delicious food and cakes were available throughout our visit from the different cafes and restaurant on site. We had a hot meal from the kiosk by the ice rink – my husband and I opted for halloumi gyros which I can highly recommend.
My kids chose a burger and sausages and chips which they devoured. My youngest son has multiple food allergies and we were all really impressed not just that the staff were able to cater for him, but that they were so helpful and accommodating.
After we went skating, we treated ourselves to hot chocolates to warm up. You pay a deposit for the cups which is refunded at a stand in the shop by the exit.
For anyone visiting in the daytime, there are two playgrounds at the Eden Project which my kids always love going to and there are lots of engaging interactive exhibits about sustainability and the natural world too.
My family all loved visiting the Eden Project at Christmas time – it was a truly magical evening and one I would definitely recommend to other families.
