We spent the final week of the summer holidays at Braidhaugh Holiday Park in Crieff, one of the Largo Leisure sites, and I honestly think this is one of the best times to visit. By late August, the Scottish schools are already back in session, which means everywhere is noticeably quieter than it tends to be further south in England, perfect for a more relaxed family break.

First Impressions

Braidhaugh Holiday Park sits right on the banks of the River Earn in beautiful Perthshire. Although it’s only a short walk into the centre of Crieff, the site still feels peaceful and tucked away, with stunning Highland views all around. It’s the kind of place where you feel removed from the hustle and bustle without ever being far from conveniences.

Facilities

• Reception – Manned during the day by friendly, helpful staff who made us feel very welcome.
• Bar – Attached to the reception building. It’s only open during the day and serves drinks rather than food, but it had a lovely cosy atmosphere. We popped in one rainy afternoon and enjoyed a quiet drink while watching the showers outside.
• Play areas – There’s a small swing set on-site opposite the caravans, which my children adored, plus a large public park with a playground and open field just next door. Perfect for running around and burning off energy.
• The River Earn – The highlight for us. It runs right alongside the park and is easily and safely accessible. We spent hours skimming stones, relaxing by the water, and even watching the kids paddle. Fishing is also possible if you buy a licence.

Accommodation

We stayed in a three-bed, dog-friendly caravan, but Braidhaugh also offers camping pitches and lodges with hot tubs if you’re after something different.

• Bedrooms – A spacious master and two well-designed twin rooms gave plenty of space for our family of five plus our Goldador puppy.
• Living area – A bright open-plan lounge and kitchen with dining table, large sofa, and everything we needed for family meals and board games.
• Outdoor space – The caravan had its own decking area with a table and chairs, which was brilliant. We could leave the door open and let the kids and puppy move in and out safely, which gave us a bit of extra breathing room.

Overall, the caravan felt modern, comfortable, and just right for a family stay.

Location & Exploring

One of the things we enjoy about Largo Leisure sites is that each park has a completely different feel. For example:

• Loch Tay is ideal if you want a secluded escape in the Highlands with nothing but scenery for miles.
• Braidhaugh, on the other hand, is great if you want easy access to local amenities and things to do. You could manage perfectly well here without a car.

From the park, it was only a five-minute drive to Aldi for supplies, and we also enjoyed strolling into Crieff itself for shops, restaurants, pubs, and even another park for the kids. We also took the lovely river walk, which led us to yet another play area, always a win with children!

We were really happy with both the caravan and the park itself. For a weekend stay, you could easily remain on site the whole time and still feel entertained and relaxed. For a week, we loved exploring the local area but found ourselves always drawn back to the River Earn. The children couldn’t get enough of it, and honestly, neither could we.

If you’re looking for a holiday park that strikes the perfect balance between peaceful countryside and handy amenities, Braidhaugh Holiday Park is an excellent choice—especially for families and dog owners.
