As a mum of three velcro babies, I’ve tried my fair share of carriers over the years, but the BabyBjörn Move carrier has truly impressed me. 

I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and finding baby products that are easy to use, supportive, and gentle on my joints can sometimes be tricky. When I first tried the BabyBjörn Move carrier, I was immediately struck by how little strain on my back or shoulders, and now, after spending several weeks using it with baby Thomas, I’m confident this is one I’ll be using for the long haul.

One of the most notable features of the BabyBjörn Move carrier is how simple it is to get on and off. The process is straightforward: you first put on the parent part like a backpack, which is super easy and comfortable. Then you adjust the baby part to fit and clip it on the front. That’s it – no wrestling or awkward adjustments mid-wear. 

Of course, the most important thing is that Thomas is well supported, safe and comfortable.  And he is! The leg straps ensure a snug fit that properly supports Thomas’s hips, and there’s large panel that can be raised to support his head and neck – especially useful when he falls asleep (which happens a lot in this carrier!).

I expected all of that from a respected brand like BabyBjorn but what surprised me the most was the support it provided for me. As a parent with joint issues, I’m always on the lookout for carriers that don’t exacerbate discomfort, and this one exceeded my expectations. The parent straps are designed so well that I almost felt like my posture improved while wearing it. There seemed to be no pressure on my shoulders at all – I honestly felt more aligned and at ease carrying Thomas around than I did when I wasn’t wearing him! I wore him around the Trafford Centre for a good couple of hours and didn’t feel any strain, which is a huge win for me.

The carrier’s design offers a nice, snug fit for him, and he feels secure and relaxed while being carried facing me. However, the BabyBjörn Move carrier also offers the option of facing your baby outward once they’re over 5 months old and have developed the strength to hold their head up.

For busy mums like me, practicality is key, and the BabyBjörn Move carrier is ideal for situations where navigating a pram just isn’t feasible. Whether it’s a trip to the shopping centre or a stroll around a busy tourist spot, having your hands free while still keeping your baby safely close to you is a game-changer. Not only do you avoid the hassle of pushing a pram through crowded spaces, but you also get the added bonus of having your baby securely “hugged” without any strain on your body.

The only negative i can think of is that because the patent part of the carrier is more structured than some, you can’t fold it in to a changing bag. And when you take it off in restaurants, for example, it’s a bit of an unwieldy thing to keep put of everyone’s way!

Overall, I would highly recommend the BabyBjörn Move carrier, especially for parents who are looking for a comfortable, easy-to-use, and supportive solution for babywearing. It ticks all the boxes for me: it’s gentle on my joints, simple to put on, and, most importantly, it keeps both me and Thomas comfortable and happy. Whether you’re a first-time parent or you’ve been through your fair share of carriers, this one’s definitely worth trying. It’s practical, stylish, and Thomas certainly gives it a thumbs up – or he will once hes mastered that trick!

Suitable from birth to 15 months. I’ll be sad when our time with this carrier is over.
