Recently I spent a weekend in London with some friends and we were lucky enough to stay at Citadines Holborn-Covent Garden.

Here are a number of reasons why I think you should consider staying as this affordable hotel in London, the Citadines Holborn-Covent Garden.

Location of Citadines Holborn-Covent Garden

The hotel is just across the road from Holborn tube station. It takes less than 2 minutes from the tube to the hotel. It meant that even though we only stayed one night in London, we could have a full weekend without bags, as we could leave our bags there before we went to the Tennis on the Saturday and then pop back for them after a full day exploring on Sunday.

This is the view from our hotel room and you can see Holborn Tube to the right of the photo.

When I travel with the kids location is even more important as when you get off the tube after a long day you just want to be ‘home’.

When you’re not travelling with kids it’s even close to the lovely Hoxton Hotel bar which does brilliant cocktails. If you are then why not check out these London kid friendly restaurants.

Value for Money

The weekend we stayed at Citadines Holborn-Covent Garden you could book a deluxe studio for the night for £93. Today when I checked it was £113. For London this is an amazing price whichever it is. In fact it is so amazing that when I realised that was all it should be I was worried about what the room and the location would be like. I’ve stayed in significantly more expensive Travelodges than that in London and I’ve also stayed at some hotels I would never recommend in awful areas for way more money than that.

When we arrived I was absolutely delighted. The location (see above) was spot on, and the cleanliness and room were amazing, exactly what we needed.

Room

We had two studio rooms for the four of us. I loved the kitchenette (having a fridge is always useful particularly with kids) and the bathroom was spotless with a great shower.

The curtains were blackout and the air conditioning worked and was easy to work out.

Beds

The studio apartments can either be doubles or twin singles. The twin single beds we had were really comfortable and the pillows were perfect. Not something you can always say about a hotel and certainly not what you can always say about an affordable one too.

Reception

The staff on reception were fabulous and couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms were ready for us on arrival even though we arrived far too early. They looked after our bags happily on the Sunday and were kind and considerate.

The free coffee in reception area was a nice touch too.

Overall it’s a fabulous place to stay in London, a perfect place to see the old streets in London, and a really affordable one too. We will definitely go back and friends with kids have already booked. It will be a great place to stay to see Covent Garden at Christmas.

One to save and remember why not PIN it
