1. Lulworth Cove

Part of the Jurassic Coast, Lulworth Cove is a great day out. Perfect for picnics, taking the dog for walks, or enjoying the amazing views, it’s easy to fill more than a day at Lulworth Cove.

2. Monkey World

The famous ape rescue centre in Wareham, Dorset is a fun filled day out. There’s something for everyone of all ages, with plenty of educational resources without realising it. We always come away having learnt something amazing.

3. Weymouth Sealife Centre

Located right next to the beach in Weymouth, the sealife centre keeps us all busy as we follow the trails around spotting all the different species. We love the outside areas at Weymouth Sealife centre, plenty of space to et off steam, enjoy a picnic and also splash in the water zone on a warm day.

4. Beaches

The county has so many amazing beaches – one of the great reasons to visit Dorset with kids. Whether you visit the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth beach, or go a little out of the way at Mudeford, or Durdle Door, it’ll take you ages to run out of time to visit all the beaches Dorset has to offer.

5. Corfe Castle

We are National Trust members, and one of our favourite places to visit is Corfe Castle. The castle ruins have so much history, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. There are always great activities on offer for the kids as well.

6. Kingston Lacy

Another National Trust property that we love to visit is Kingston Lacy near Wimborne. The house is stunning and the grounds huge. You never feel crowded enjoying your walks and picnics at Kingston Lacy. Visit in the Spring and you may see the amazing bluebells in the woods as well.

7. Moors Valley Country Park

One of my favourite haunts close to home is Moors Valley Country Park. There is a massive expanse of woodland walks, play trails, cycling trails, a steam train, play parks, and more than enough to keep you busy for a great low cost family day out. They have a fab Go Ape course as well that we love.

8. Durlston Country Park

We discovered Durlston Country park in Swanage recently, and it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area. The famous globe is located here, one of the largest stone spheres in the world. You can spot Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight in the distance as you wander the trails.

9. Hengistbury Head

One of our “happy places” is Hengistbury Head, the headland between Bournemouth and Mudeford. Hengistbury Head provides amazing views across the water, fun walks, a land train and beach huts to lust over in the Summer months.

10. Badbury Rings

Badbury Rings is an iron age hill fort between Wimborne and Blandford. Amazing for walking the dogs, or enjoying some fresh air. A place we often visit when we fancy a walk with a bit of history.
