10 Reasons You Should Travel Abroad with a Baby

Share
If you are thinking of booking a summer holiday with a baby, don’t put it off!

Here are ten reasons why you should definitely book that holiday abroad if you have a new baby:
  1. It does not get easier to fly with them when they become toddlers, do not be fooled.
  2. You don’t have to pay for their seat.
  3. You can take most things on the plane with you for free i.e. buggy/car seat etc
  4. It might be ‘same sh*t/different location’ but at least you can get some sunshine!
  5. The sooner you decide to brave it the easier it will be next time.
  6. Babies don’t actually care where they are, it will only be you that worries about the flight, not them.
  7. That first year with a baby can be really hard, so if you can afford to, do treat yourself!
  8. You can book really fab, family friendly hotels or villas.
  9. If you aren’t sleeping, why not not sleep where you can push the pram up and down a beach!
  10. Holidays change when you have a baby but are still worth it, you just need to Adjust Your Expectations!

PS Just make sure you have some family travel insurance in case the sh*t does hit the fan! It won’t, but you never know.

  1. We waited until Oliver was 2 before we flew. Was a nightmare cos he wanted to walk through the airport, we just wanted to push him in his buggy. So I agree, that it doesn’t get easier! That said, I’ve never travelled abroad with a baby – but maybe next time as my Dad now lives in Spain!

  2. we travelled with our son young and did both long and short haul for holidays and then moved to china when he was 2, had our daughter there and have spent the last two years travelling and exploring china, australia and other destinations. travelling has made them flexible and adaptable, they are learning about geography and different cultures from their experiences as they get older, flights are great with a baby, you can request a bassinet for long haul and flight attendants are really helpful, especially if travelling alone with a baby or baby and toddler.

  3. Yes! Absolutely to all of this – the first flight with my daughter was so nerve racking but it actually went so smoothly and we’ve never looked back. She didn’t sleep well but I suspect that would have been the same at home (it was for the next 6 months plus!) And I got some sun…
