The Listies: 110% Ready | Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Listies are back in town and Merle and I are delighted. We are big fans of Rich and Matt and as well as reviewing them several times (lucky us!), it’s the Fringe act that I always suggest to friends, family and colleagues when asked for a recommendation. To be honest I’m always a bit jealous of a newbie to the wonderful world of The Listies, knowing they get to experience the joy for the first time. That’s the thing about The Listies, they encapsulate the slightly naughty and very silly joy of being young and their shows can result in 5 year olds to 55 year olds crying with laughter.
Merle and I are veterans, who regularly sing songs from the podcast, we have the joke book and we often chat about our favourite Matt story, so we are locked in and ready for the fun to begin. 110% Ready is a an hour of mayhem, nonsense, dad jokes and the usual overspill of toilet humour, and we loved it. The Listies guide us through a challenge the troubles most parents – trying to leave the house on time. Not a traditionally funny situation I first think, as someone who lives with people who don’t rate punctuality. But as ever Rich and Matt find the hilarious in everyday situations. Matt can only find one shoe (which he names Shoesun) and he’s pretty relaxed about it. Rich is more concerned and devises a list (well they are The Listies) to help Matt to undertake the tasks and chores he needs to do to make their deadline, but will they have time to conquer the Loch ‘Mess’ Monster and successfully tidy Matt’s room along the way?
The moral of the story (and the reason I am deducting half a star*sorry Rich and Matt) is “If you don’t tidy your room, someone else will do it for you.” That’s a bit too close to home for me.Har
Some of The Listies shows are sold out, but there are tickets remaining for a couple and if you want a brilliant hour of family-friendly entertainment that will leave you with sore sides from laughing – then as always, I recommend The Listies.
