Review Holly House Farm in North Yorkshire

holly house farm

Last week we spent two nights in the gorgeous Georgia cottage in Richmond, North Yorkshire, thanks to Holiday at Home. Georgia is one of three properties that make up Holly House Farm, they are tucked away on a large plot of land surrounded by nothing but peaceful countryside, the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of life but not too far away from local shops and pubs should you need them.

Our cottage was the middle of the three with Henry to the right sleeping 8 and Austin to the left sleeping 4. Ours slept 6 across 3 large double bedrooms which you can request to be made up as doubles or twins depending on your party needs. Despite being nestled between two other cottages we didn’t hear any noise from either side at all and both the cottage and the gardens felt completely private at all times. That being said if you wanted to holiday with a large family or group of friends but also have some privacy hiring all three of these would be a great option for a special occasion.

The accommodation at Holly House Farm

From the moment we entered Georgia we could tell it was going to be perfect. It is beautifully decorated and maintained to a high standard and just oozies luxury with it’s opulent antler light fittings, under floor heating and an open plan design that goes from the ground floor to the top floor with a glass panelled hallway overlooking the living space.

The open plan living space comprises of both a dinning area and living area complete with log burner and TV and can easily cater for 6 without it feeling cramped.

The kitchen, which opens into the living space, is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. There is a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher and fridge freezer as well as dishwasher tablets, washing powder and every utensil you can think off. There is even a dog bowl and biscuits ready to welcome your four legged friends too.

All three of the bedrooms are large, there is one down stairs that comes with an en suite and then a further two upstairs that share a bathroom. Each of the three bedrooms come with hair dryers and bathrobes and plenty of storage space for two people for the week. The beds are also super comfy which made it very hard to get up in the mornings!

The Gardens at Holly House Farm

There is a large garden area to the front of the property that comes complete with a table ready for you to sit and enjoy your morning coffee whilst you take in the views. The back garden is smaller but it does come with the all important hot tub which has been perfectly positioned so that it is completely private from the neighbouring cottages. It also has some very pretty lights hanging over head adding a magical touch for when you want to relax and star gaze in the evening and hooks on the wall for your gowns, they really have thought of everything.

The Location of Holly House Farm

For us the location was just perfect. It was a 10 minute drive to Richmond where we spent our days playing by the river, exploring the town and chatting to the locals. It is surrounded by beautiful country side and plenty of walks and had we stayed longer we certainly would of explored the area a bit more.

It’s also worth noting that when you book with Holiday at Home you have the option to add on a number of extras prior to your arrival should you wish to. These include activities, private dinning experiences and flower deliveries. Will and Charlotte, the brother and sister duo that own Holidays at Home, have considered all eventualities and nothing is too much trouble. We even ordered one of these beautiful Yorkshire hampers from Yorkshire’s Finest Hampers as a special treat for when we arrived as they specialise in bespoke welcome hampers and arranged for it to be delivered before our check in time and found it all set out ready for us in the Kitchen. Fantastic service.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay in Georgia and would highly recommend for anyone that wants a luxury break near Richmond and for those want to visit a different part of Yorkshire then head to the Holiday at Home website as they have over 50 properties to choose from.
