Our review of Reima Zip off trousers for kids and what we thought when we road tested them in Africa.
Hubby and I have had zip off trousers that change into shorts for years. We use them traditionally when we go hiking as you start off chillier and end up warmer as you go. I have looked into buying these for the kids in the past but hadn’t had much luck finding any.
So I was delighted when before our Tanzania Family Holiday Reima sent us three pairs of their Silta 2in1 trousers for the kids to wear.

I’ve already shared quite a lot of photos on Instagram Stories of the kids wearing them in Africa but if you missed those here are a few more:
These trousers are perfect for those days which start off cool and get warmer. You simply zip off the bottom part and you have a comfortable pair of shorts. It takes seconds.
What’s not quite so easy about these trouser/shorts is getting the trouser part back on. The zip bit seemed quite fiddly and to be honest we couldn’t get the trouser part back on without the kids taking them off. This was fine in the safari vehicle but might not be quite so easy depending on whee you were.
Whilst Reima don’t have any of the ones that say they are mosquito safe on the website currently, the ones we took away with us were. Whilst I can’t guarantee that it wasn’t the mosquito repellant that stopped the mosquitos, they didn’t seem to get any mosquito bites whilst wearing the trousers either so they certainly can’t have done any harm. I’d buy them again.
I have really liked the quality of the Reima clothes we have had so far this year and I would definitely suggest you check out their trouser range as at the moment there is a great sale on. (July 2019)
