In this post we aim to help you understand the different memberships and how you might be able to get National Trust membership cheaper than advertised.

The National Trust logo (which you can find here) is in my view one of the most quintessentially English brands, but what does the National Trust offer you and what can you enjoy.

With National Trust membership you can enjoy:

  • Free entry to over 500 places
  • Free parking at most National Trust car parks
  • National Trust Handbook, full of information about places to visit
  • National Trust Magazine three times a year, packed with inspiration, interviews and news
  • Access to an online Members’ Area, full of first look previews and behind-the-scenes features

A lesser-known privilege is access to National Trust locations and other affiliated places overseas. The National Trust occasionally works with other organisations like English Heritage, so you can enjoy more properties at a discount too.

Does the National Trust do any offers on National Trust membership?

To be honest there isn’t many offers on National Trust membership but here are a couple of ideas to make National Trust membership cheaper.

Pay by Direct Debit

Pay for a joint, family, individual or young person membership by annual Direct Debit online and receive a £15 National Trust gift card to spend in our shops and cafés.

Cheaper to be members of National Trust in Scotland?

Buy a National Trust Membership for Scotland and use in England & Wales too.

A National Trust for Scotland membership isn’t just the key to Scotland’s treasures. It also opens up a whole world of heritage for members to explore. We have agreements with similar organisations around the globe which mean that NTS members can visit for free.

Lifetime National Trust membership?

Lifetime National Trust memberships look more expensive, but if you’ll be a member for a long time, you will end up saving money.

Prices start from £1,730. You’ll need to be a member for 24 years to break even (individual membership). You can opt for the senior concession and get 25% off the members’ price. Under 5s can still go free.

Can you get National Trust membership with Tesco vouchers?

We have occasionally seen this as an option for Scotland but not for England & Wales. You can however get RHS membership with your Tesco Clubcard Vouchers.

Where can I buy a National Trust gift card?

National Trust physical gift cards are available to buy at most National Trust shops, their online shop and in larger Sainsbury’s, Tesco and WH Smith stores.

Can I buy a digital National Trust gift card?

Yes, these are available from the online shop. As they’re in digital format, they can be sent via email with a personal message from you. And they’re a great last-minute option.

Junior Membership of the National Trust

For young people under the age of 18. Under 5s can continue to enjoy our places for free. The benefits of junior membership include:

  • Free entry to over 500 places in our care
