This is a beautiful celebration of all the things you can be and do if you are a person of colour. It has engaging artwork and a fantastic, positive message.

Star Friends: Hidden Charm written by Linda Chapman, illustrated by Lucy Flemming (Stripes Books)

This is the eighth book in the magical Star Friends series which follows Ionie and her three friends as they have to solve a new mystery. It’s written by bestselling author Linda Chapman who has also written My Secret Unicorn and Rainbow Magic.

Run Rebel by Manjeet Mann (Penguin Random House)

This is a powerful story about family, revolution and expectations. I was completely captivated by Amber, the flawed heroine who struggles between following her duty or her dreams. I highly recommend this incredibly poignant story which is written completely in verse.

Special Forces Cadets: Ruthless by Chris Ryan (Hot Key Books)

The fourth book in this series is set in the favelas of Brazil. Max and the other cadets set out to rescue Tommy, the son of a British diplomat kidnapped by a drug cartel, but Tommy has his own agenda. Written by former SAS solider Chris Ryan, these thrilling stories are action packed.

I really enjoyed reading Alyrra’s story which follows her as she grows in confidence and learns to trust in the courage of her convictions.
