Wow! I am (almost) lost for words it was so good!
Last night I was lucky enough to watch Ghost The Musical at the Blackpool Winter Gardens and it is fair to say I was bowled over!

Being based on an almost iconic 90s film, the stage show has a lot to live up to, but it does it beautifully. The love and passion between Sam and Molly is so believable right from the start and her heartache following his death is portrayed so credibly that we as an audience all felt it with her. Rebekah Lowings (Molly) and Josh St. Clair (Sam) really are both outstanding.
The humour from Jacqui Dubois’ Oda May Brown provided wonderful light relief. Big shoes to fill in that role, but Jacqui made it her own for sure.
This is a musical after all, so aside from the beautiful version of Unchained Melody, there were also many other great numbers too. The songs blended into the story line perfectly and the quality of the singing from every single cast member was top notch. There were also some fabulous dance routines from the supporting cast, breaking up the seriousness of the main story line and filling the stage with the visual joy and happiness that is live musical theatre!
As the story unfolds the audience is gripped, there are lots of twists and turns and some quite gritty plot lines, but with just enough laughter and of course lots of love. The time whizzes by.
Credit to all the technical crew, as this is show that often changes venue weekly, but you’d certainly never know! The set transitions were seamless and the design worked perfectly, from the grimy New York Subway to the opulence of Wall Street, you really felt you were there; and the lighting towards the end was beautiful.
Ghost, The Musical is on at the Blackpool Opera House, in the Winter Gardens until Saturday December 7th. It’s a fabulous pre Christmas treat, whether you love the film or just love great live theatre. It would make a great night out with friends or family (I’d say secondary school aged and above). – I took my 11 year old children who knew nothing about it before hand, but loved every minute. The only thing I would add is, take your tissues, because it’s an emotional one!
