If you haven’t ever visited Formby Sand Dunes then you are missing a trick. The dunes will forever have a special memory in my heart as we met some very good friends there just moments after finding out that we were having twins and that they would be born when my eldest was only 13 months old; to say we were in shock was an understatement!
When you arrive into Formby there are a couple of car parks to choose from; one being Lifeboat Road and the other Victoria Road which is the National Trust Car Park.
By lunchtime on a hot sunny day you’ll often find the (free to members) National Trust car park full but you’ll usually find a place in Lifeboat Road. Lifeboat Road is also closer to the big Sand Dunes that we found ourselves in last weekend; you simply walk out to the left of the car park following signs that point towards the Lost Resort (the resort that was never built)and keep going. To be honest you can’t get it wrong you just enjoy running up and down whatever you find.
With younger kids (ours are 5 and 6) head through the dunes to the beach along the walkways and you can either stick to the paths with prams until you hit the beach or venture off a little to do some smaller dunes.
There is pretty much always an ice cream van in the car park but no other facilities to speak off!
Basically it’s just fun in the sand! Enjoy the photos!
