There is no better way to start off the Christmas Festivities than seeing a musical and we had the pleasure of experiencing The Dukes Theatre captivating rendition of A Christmas Carol the musical. From the enchanting but simple set design to the powerful performances, every aspect of the production was truly mesmerising. The talented cast and crew brought Charles Dickens’ timeless tale to life in a way that was both heartwarming and thought-provoking. Our children were very much invested in the story, especially our 5 year old who was so wishing that Ebenezer Scrooge became ‘good’ and see the error of his ways.
If you’re looking for a festive theatre experience that will leave you feeling uplifted, this is a must-see!

The attention to detail in the costume was impeccable, transporting the audience to the enchanting world of Victorian London. The musical numbers were beautifully orchestrated, adding an extra layer of emotion to the storytelling. The cast’s exceptional vocal performances truly brought the beloved characters to life, making for an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
I was particularly impressed by the seamless blend of traditional storytelling whilst engaging and involving the audience. During one song the cast involved the audience and we were encouraged to dance along – which all children and adults loved. Unlike other performances we’ve seen the cast made the whole audience giggle.
The twist with Ebenezer’s ghost of Christmas past being his sister Fanny was very heartwarming.
The Dukes Theatre has truly outdone themselves with this adaptation, and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone seeking a heartwarming holiday experience.
I will add that the ghost of Christmas future did make our daughter jump as he was a little scary however he was just as he is in the films.
