Bella Mare Hotel Corfu, Greece

For Summer 2019 Simpson Travel are launching Bella Mare hotel in Corfu and I am ridiculously excited! I can’t wait to try out the newest addition to the family friendly hotels run by Simpson Travel (which we are doing in July 2019!) and to explain why I am so excited I have to go back to the beginning of our Simpson Travel journey.

The first holiday we went on after we had the kids without friends or family was a Simpson Travel holiday to Mousses Villas Lefkada. I wanted an actual holiday in the sun, but I wanted some help with the kids too. Just a little bit, not a lot, but enough to make me feel like I’d had actually had a proper holiday.

Mousses had a lot to live up to with its promise of small kids clubs, rest relaxation and fun, date nights and long family days spent in the pool. It did not disappoint! Two, two week holidays later, and for many people we met,  lots more than that, and Mousses is still the holiday destination that 5 years on I recommend first as one of the best family holiday destinations for babies, pre-schoolers and under 8’s.

But as I now have seven year old twins who will be eight next year and an eight year old that will be nearly nine, we’ve probably outgrown the Mousses experience and it’s time to find somewhere new.

Bella Mare Hotel in Corfu looks like it might be it!

Bella Mare Hotel with its spectacular beachfront setting in the exclusive North-East of Corfu, looks hard to beat even before you discover what Simpson Travel is introducing new for 2019. Bella Mare promises exceptional service and a laid-back beach club vibe. It promises a wonderfully relaxing holiday and understated luxury. It’s set on the beach, there are tennis courts and a generous pool in the grounds with a poolside bar for a lazy lunch or a cocktail.

But what it also promises is the brand new Simpson Watersports Centre which is waiting to tempt you out across the sparkling Avlaki Bay.  Simpson Watersports, is an exciting new partnership with the Corfu Sailing Centre, and is only a short stroll along the beach where you will find lessons and equipment hire.

All rooms at Bella Mare have spacious, elegant interiors, sea views and their own kitchenette and fridge should you wish to dine in. And for a little extra luxury, the ten Bella Mare Exclusive Suites, new for 2019, share an additional private pool and daytime bar.

For evening dining, there are two excellent tavernas moments from the hotel – or the vibrant village of Kassiopi, with its pretty shops, waterfront restaurants and low-key nightlife is a pleasant 20-minute walk or a five-minute drive.

But what I’m most excited about and what Simpson Travel have added to Bella Mare for 2019 in addition to the water sports centre is Dolphins club for 8 to 12 year olds and Tribe for those hard-to-please teens.

These two clubs will run at the hotel from 14 July to 31 August and will offer a flexible programme of activities for older kids! It looks to me like a ‘grown up’ Mousses! It’s even been designed and the staff trained by the legend that is Natasha from Mousses!

So what’s Dolphins going to be all about!

Dolphins at Bella Mare, Corfu

Dolphins will cater for children aged 8 to 12.

It will focus on

1. SIMPLE PLEASURES!

The idea behind Dolphins is to take them away from a virtual world and introduce the kids to each other with some Swallows and Amazon adventures, treasure hunts and good old-fashioned beach games.

2. GRAND ADVENTURES

No two days will be the same at Dolphins. At the start of each week, we the parents will receive a programme detailing around 30 hours of supervised activity, with sessions held at different times on different days to give everyone a welcome break from rigid timetabling of school. Beach games, rocket making, scavenger hunts, kayaking, paddle boarding, arts and crafts, table tennis, movie making and a group sailing adventure, are just some of the exciting activities that are planned. There is also a BBQ evening and pizza and film night planned too!

3. THE BEST OF TIMES

There is also a Clubhouse especially for our Dolphins. The Den, lying within the lovely gardens at Bella Mare, is a place to call their own and is the main hub for Dolphin activity. It will give us the parents a welcome chance unwind and perhaps even enjoy a few adventures of our own at the Simpson Watersports, centre just a few minutes along the beach.

Tribe at Bella Mare

Tribe gives teenagers the independence and flexibility they crave while offering an engaging programme of activities. It’s about freedom; it’s about friendship; it’s about family.

Tribe caters for teenagers aged 13+.
From 14 July to 31 August 2019.
Available to guests staying at the Bella Mare Hotel.

FREEDOM

The experienced Club Leader will begin with some gentle introductions and useful information, encouraging friendships to evolve organically through shared activities and trips out but unless the group are heading off somewhere, there won’t be strict deadlines or time-pressures; just an open invitation to join a flexible programme that allows for uptime, down-time and those all-important lie-ins.

FRIENDSHIP

Friendships can’t be forced, but given the right circumstances they can be forged. The Tribe programme provides an average of 30 hours of co-ordinated activities over six days and seeks to give a welcome break from the social pressures and rigid timetabling of school. Watersports, beach games, workouts, chillouts, table tennis, basketball and a trip to Corfu’s fabulous waterpark, are just some of the things that will be on offer by day. And with a pizza and film night, Wednesday BBQ and an evening out in Kassiopi included too, there are plenty of ways for everyone to get involved, share common interests and find their groove.

FAMILY

Tribe gives teens the chance to spread their wings and let off steam while parents relax and enjoy the exceptional surroundings at Bella Mare. But shared experiences are important too, and the intimate beach-club vibe is a wonderful backdrop for rewarding family time and enjoying lazy lunches by the sea. And when you’ve recharged, Simpson Watersports offers you the chance to prove that youth is wasted on the young and join the fun out on the water.

Wow, this sounds like a fabulous place. So much fun for the children, and if they’re happy the parents are happy too.
