3. La Vallée Eurocamp (Normandy)

La Vallée Eurocamp is a glorious rural setting close to magnificent sandy beaches and scattered with flowers and fruit trees. With non-stop activities, La Valllée has everything you could think of. Ian and Emma, writers from Mini Travellers, says, ‘The kids clubs were a roaring success, and we were surprised by how much there was on offer to children of all ages.

Our two-year-old was able to go to Mini Fun Station Plus (up to 5 years old) sessions accompanied by an adult, and she enjoyed playing musical instruments, singing, painting and playing games.’

There are excellent facilities at Chateau de Lez Eaux including a lovely bar and a beautifully landscaped indoor water park, complete with slides. Domaine Des Naiades is a sizeable wooded parc just above Port Grimaud. From this colourful harbour town you can sail to St Tropez or tour the weekly market and get a real flavour of the Côte d’Azur. Back on Parc, you’ll find fantastic swimming facilities, including a heated, Olympic-sized pool (although they let the sun do the warming during July and August!), plus two giant waterslides and a kids’ pool.

Cote D’Argent Campsite is 300 metres from a sandy beach and set amidst a beautiful pine forest. Its waterpark includes: an Aqua Pirates fun park, with endless slides and water cascades, two pool complexes and a pool with a retractable roof, making it perfect for any weather (which is why it’s open before the 1st of June). However, Mudpie Fridays suggest that if there are things you particularly want to do, it’s probably worth a phone call to check, as some things aren’t open until peak season starts in July.

Duinrell has 1 km of covered waterslides!  It’s a theme park offering white knuckle thrills for older kids and gentler pursuits for little ones. Best of all, rides in the amusement park are free to Eurocamp customers. There’s also a fantastic beach nearby, and Amsterdam is just 40 minute drive away!

16. Beekse Bergen Campsite (Hilvarenbeek, Holland) 

Beekse Bergen Campsite is a holiday at a theme park near a great beach.  If you stay for three nights or more, you get free access to the safari park on site and the Dierenrijk kids’ zoo. There is also go-karting, water bikes and bouncy castles at the Speelland theme park. Playa Montroig is nestled in subtropical gardens alongside Costa Dorada’s sandy beaches. It’s also beautifully landscaped and is brimming with first-class facilities, like its stunning pool complex with four pools, including a lagoon-style heated pool and one with six waterslides. Birkelt Campsite also known as Little Switzerland. A beautiful location which makes Birkelt parc such an excellent idea for a holiday.  There are meadows, woodlands and peaceful rivers all around; on parc, you’ll find an impressive pool complex featuring an outdoor paddling pool (open from the end of June) and a domed, all-weather swimming pool with a retractable roof that opens when the sun arrives.

The pool complex is only one of a long list of impressive facilities, including free Wi-Fi, horse riding, a kids’ disco, play area, an excellent bar, restaurant and takeaway. Little Switzerland is a big surprise. The Mini’s & Me were immediately drawn to it because it looked reasonably small and peaceful from the descriptions (426 pitches). Eurocamp Camping Village Fabulous is a large campsite located in Rome, Italy. It is a popular destination for families and couples, and offers a wide range of facilities and activities.

Eurocamp Camping Village Fabulous offers holiday homes, mobile homes, and camping pitches. The amenities include a large swimming pool complex with a lagoon pool and waterslide, a children’s pool, a restaurant, bar, and gelateria. There’s also a supermarket, playground, kids’ club (ages 4-12), sports area with tennis courts, football pitch, and basketball court, as well as an entertainment program with activities and shows for all ages.

22. Bella Italia Campsite, Peschiera, Italian Lakes

Bella Italia is a popular recommendation. It lies on the south eastern tip of Lake Garda so is in a beautiful location. You couldn’t pick a place more perfect for kids who love fun and anyone who loves sightseeing. Mini Traveller Louise recently visited Bella Italia and says, “Bella Italia is huge! On first arrival it seemed a little daunting but its friendly staff and extensive facilities quickly made it home. If you come to visit some of Italy’s most famous and beautiful places, it’s perfectly situated; 20 minutes from Verona, around 2 hours to Venice and Milan with lots of local options to explore and soak up the ambiance.”

From the campsite there is direct access to the lakeside beach, although the fabulous pool complex with its four pools (including children’s pool, lagoon pools and waterslides) offers loads of fun for all ages. The parc runs its own kids club. At weekends throughout June, July and August, the ‘animatore’ provides a variety of entertainment too! Off parc, the cycling path between Mantova and Peschiera (also within walking distance) runs past the entrance.

Facilities at Bella Italia are comprehensive with a variety of shops including a reasonably priced supermarket, fruit and veg, clothes and toy / souvenir shop in addition to the pool side offerings of fast food, ice cream and sorbet lollies. One evening a local mini market arrived, selling various souvenirs and clothes via local trades people.

23. Park Albatros Campsite, San Vincenzo, Tuscany, Central Italy & Elba

Park Albatros is a large and lively parc spread over 30 acres and has 1200 pitches. It is ideally located for day trips to Elba from the Port of Piombino. The parc is surrounded by the Rimigliano pine forest, facing onto the sparkling waters of Baratti Bay. At the pool complex, you can take your pick of three lagoon pools, a family pool with a retractable cover, a toddler pool and an Olympic-sized one, too.

The parc runs its own kids’ activities and there is a huge sandy beach around 0.8 km away. The onsite supermarket is well stocked and for eating out the parc offers a variety of dining experiences: a buffet-style service, traditional rustic Italian, pizzeria, snack bar, creperie and gelateria that serves sumptuous home-made ice cream. A free mini train runs during the day to bring guests from the outer parts of the camp site to the pools and shops.

24. Camping Village Simuni (Pag)

Camping Village Simuni with six beaches – all accessed directly from site, with one that has a playground for kids – plus a water sports centre and diving club offering trips to underwater caves. Back on dry land, you’ll find a restaurant, pizzeria by the beach, coffee bar, cocktail bar, supermarket and daily fish market. Other facilities include tennis courts, beach volleyball and a payable climbing wall, with instructors on hand to help.
