Orlando Magic Basketball Game – One of the Things to do in Orlando besides Theme Parks for all the Family

One of the ideas on the infographic below is attending an Orland Magic basketball game. This was one of the surprising hits of our trip. At that time the kids were all Under 5 and we were also away with my parents too, so 7 of us drove across to the basketball one sunny evening wondering why on earth we had let Mr Mini Travellers persuade us into going, but we all had a great time.  A basketball game is more of a show than a sporting event and you just have to get on board with the dancing and the large screens and the noise. You found yourself cheering for one side or the other depending on who was sitting around you and the cheering and the whooping was infectious.

You can see the full review of our trip to Orlando Magic here but it was definitely one of the great things to do in Orlando besides Theme Parks for all the family young and old.

Kennedy Space Centre

In my view any trip to Orlando would not be complete without a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre (KSC) at Cape Canaveral.  In fact, no trip to Florida would be complete without a visit to the home of Nasa. Now whilst when we visited it was just my husband and my father that went (I had in fact been before) this excellent post by Escape with the Kids explains why its a great place to visit with the whole family. Including incredible astronaut training simulators!

West Orange Trail, Winter Garden

Sometimes when you are looking for things to do in Orlando besides Theme Parks for all the Family you need to think a little outside the box. Orlando can also be busy and chaotic and sometime you need to take a step out from the crazy.  About 20 minutes from Orlando, the West Orange Trail in Winter Park is surrounded by lakes and green spaces. The West Orange Trail, when completed, will be a 36 mile, multi-purpose recreational greenway containing a 14-foot wide paved surface to be enjoyed by walkers, joggers, hikers, bikers, skaters and the physicallychallenged. Horseback riders will also be able to enjoy a parallel equestrian path, five-feet wide and ten-miles long, extending north and south of Clarcona Horse Park.  Head out there and enjoy the peace all together as a family!

Everglades Airboat Tour

Something you can’t do everywhere in the World, is see aligators in their natural habitat, but you can in Orlando.  It’s not an activity for everyone, my good friend Sarah for example would hate to get this close to aligators, but I know my family would love it. It would be one of the great things to do in Orlando besides Theme Parks for all the Family. Reserve an exclusive boat or simply join others in a glide across the Everglades.

Why not check out all the ideas in this infographic.
