Stay Off Site at Camp Bestival or On Site at Camp Bestival in 2019?

Stay Off Site at Camp Bestival or On Site at Camp Bestival in 2019?

So recently we visited Camp Bestival and decided to stay off site rather than camp onsite. So why would we decide to stay offsite at Camp Bestival rather than staying on site?

People decide to stay off site at Camp Bestival for many many reasons

1/ Some have never visited Camp Bestival before and don’t know what to expect

Staying off site whilst visiting Camp Bestival allows you to dip your toes in to the whole festival experience rather than going all in.

2/ Some have never camped before and don’t have any camping kit

You can actually get round this at Camp Bestival by booking into the many boutique camping experiences on offer but it is a reason why people stay off site.

3/ Some don’t want to stay awake late

Festival music does go on until 2am at Camp Bestival. This is a lot earlier than some festivals we’ve been to, but if you’re not a great sleeper then it can be easier to stay offsite.

4/ You can’t park next to your tent

Festival Camping can be difficult as you can’t park next to your car. We had already camped at two festivals in 2018 so we decided camp but to book Moreton Camping and Caravanning Club Site which is the perfect base for Camp Bestival being only 20 minutes away.

BUT

There are also some really good reasons for staying on site at Camp Bestival

1/ You can relax into the festival vibe if you stay on site at Camp Bestival

2/ You can enjoy the variety of bars and not have to worry about driving anywhere

3/ There is a camping community mentality about Camp Bestival and you do miss out on that somewhat

4/It’s part of the whole festival experience

5/ You can be on site earlier than others and book activities and slots for workshops first

6/ You can listen to the headliners even if your kids have crashed in the tent and fallen asleep (I missed the end of Rick Astley in 2018!)

7/ It’s actually fun!!

NB: We were guests off Camp Bestival and Moreton Camping and Caravanning Club Site when we went to Camp Bestival in 2018.

  1. We are lucky to live around an hour away from Camp Bestival so chose this year to drive in each day. This worked well for us as we could sleep in our own beds and shower at home etc. I think next time we will immerse ourselves in the camping experience to see the other side.
