If you’re reading this post it may be because you have decided to go to Mauritius and are just wondering where to stay in Mauritius with Children; but it’s more likely that you’re sat at your desk, or on your couch wondering whether Mauritius is a sensible option with children, and if so, what would you do and where would you stay!

I recently wrote a post explaining my 5 Reasons why you should visit Mauritius with Children – spoiler – it does include sandy beaches and cocktails, but it also includes dolphins, giant tortoises and horse draw carriages too, so why not pop over and have a read.

Mauritius draws you in, mainly due to it’s people, they are some of the friendliest in the world.  The Mauritian people are a creative mix of Indian and Creole, combined with a European twist of Dutch, French and British colonial influence (hence the horse drawn carriages!) and the people welcome children with open arms.  However you do have to choose carefully where you stay as many hotels have developed their offering based on the honeymoon market.  Choosing carefully to get that perfect family holiday is therefore important.

Emirates Holidays have helpfully put together a list of Mauritius holidays for families and you can see the full list here, but three stand out to me!

Ultimate Luxury – Mauritius with Children

Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort

Five Star luxury where every need is catered for. It not only provides the service for which the Sahngri-La are famous for, but it provides the exceptional beauty of the Mauritius coastline and the resorts two private islands, Ilot Mangenie and Ile aux Cerfs! For kids their is the T-Club which is open to children aged 4-11, offering enriching activities every day, and Teens’ Club is available for ages 12-17. Younger guests can make use of an adventure play area, and a babysitting service is available.  What’s not to love.

Luxury – Mauritius with Children

Sugar Beach Resort & Spa

Whilst Sugar Beach is an incredibly luxurious hotel with an amazingly indulgent spa and hammam, its children and teen’s clubs, watersports activities, PADI diving courses and the largest hotel pool in Mauritius makes it a wonderful hotel for kids. When you have kids like mine who simply live in the pool on holiday, the bigger the pool is the better, particularly when there is an adults only pool where relaxation can take place, meaning the main pool can be for family fun!

Basically Luxury – Mauritius with Children

Zilwa Attitude

It says 4* but I would suggest this is under selling it somewhat; although they possibly do need to distinguish themselves from the Ultimate Luxury hotels like the places above and have hived out their own speciality of “rustic-chic” It’s a hotel immersed in island life, inspired by local seaside bungalows and the kids themselves may probably feel more relaxed here.

There is a pirate themed mini club for kids between 3 and 12 and plenty of watersports to keep the whole family entertained.

  1. We took our children to Mauritius when they were 5 and it was indeed the perfect family holiday and there is a lot to do and see on the island as well as the beaches!

  2. We very nearly booked to go to Mauritius this summer but are going back to Mark Warner instead. Maybe next year – I would love the children to swim in that sea! x
