Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5

Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5

The night before our trip to Corsica with Simpson Travel we stayed overnight at the Sofitel at Heathrow.  This was our second stay at the Sofitel at Heathrow and you can read the review of our first visit here.

There is literally no better place to stay if you are flying out of Terminal 5. It is literally across a walkway from the departures lounge and you can even take the airport trolleys almost to the door!

We travelled down to Heathrow on a Saturday evening after an eventful weekend at a festival near Hereford, Nozstock.   We used Meet & Greet with Skypark with ease and checked into the hotel at about 6pm.  The hotel is beautiful, white and spotless and we felt decidedly grubby in our muddy clothes from the festival.  Check in was seamless once again and they made particular note to welcome us back and ask us how we found our last stay.  A very nice touch I thought.

Again we had two rooms. This time the rooms were next to each other and quite a bit bigger than the rooms we had had the first time round with enormous beds. It turns out they were Superior rooms which gave us access to the Club Room too. Depending on the time of your flights this is a great idea as you can have free drinks and canapes in the early evening and then breakfast before your flight.  Unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage of either this time due to a late arrival and an early start. Breakfast in the club room starts at 6.30am.

We immediately took advantage of the large bath and showers to rid ourselves of festival dirt and then made our way down to dinner.

As this was our second visit and we had been made so welcome with the children last time, I didn’t worry about the luxury nature of the hotel.  I knew the children would be welcomed and looked after and they had already been given their activity packs on check in.

We had booked a meal at the lovely bustling restaurant Vivre which has a great kids menu for 7.30pm. The staff at Vivre welcomed us with open arms, greeted us by name and one of the waiters said he remembered the children from last time, even pointing out where we had sat (which he was right about). Whether that was an excellent memory or a note that is made on the system, it is nevertheless impressive.

Our food was once again fabulous. Served promptly and countless questions from the girls answered with good grace by the staff.   It was really pretty good value for money, particularly given the location.

After our dinner we all made our way to bed. Lily and I sneaked a quick drink in the Club Bar, just because we could, before all being asleep by 9,30pm! The festival had taken its toll.

We had a great nights sleep at the Sofitel, the beds were comfy, the facilities excellent were excellent and it was a brilliant way to start our holiday!

Genuinely highly recommended and something we will definitely do again!

NB: We stayed at the Sofitel as their guests but all views and opinions are my own.

We stayed with Sofitel at Gatwick airport, and absolutely loved the hotel. If we hadn't of been heading to Iceland we'd have been tempted to stay

This place looks fabulous and so convenient to Heathrow! We often stay in a hotel the night before and that's when or holiday begins- so will remember the Sofitel when we fly from Heathrow- thanks for sharing

I always like staying at an airport hotel more relaxing than rushing on day of travel

I stayed here once before an early flight - makes life so much easier to have a gorgeous hotel to stay in then a very easy walk across the footbridge.
