This weekend we spent a really lovely evening (without the kids) at The Wood Norton Hotel & Restaurant in Evesham, Worcestershire with Caro and Richard from The Twinkle Diaries.

When we were invited to head down to The Wood Norton Hotel, a Country House Hotel in Worcester to sample some great food in wonderful surroundings I jumped at the chance to share that with fellow foodies.

We dropped the kids off with their grandparents at 12ish and even enjoyed a leisurely drive down the M6 enjoying the peaceful drive and stopping for coffee and snacks. When you drive a lot around the country to the soundtrack of ‘are we nearly there yet’ and rows about iSpy; even the M6 and it’s roadworks can’t take the happy glow away.

We arrived at The Wood Norton Hotel around 3pm and I was immediately impressed at the welcome on reception. It was warm and engaging and it felt very personal. The couple who checked in in front of me had clearly come for a special celebration and were made to feel very welcome.  I’d even put my new fancy leather coat on from Tahlia Leather for the occasion!

The Wood Norton Hotel offers an award winning 2 Rosette 7 course tasting menu in its restaurant and an A la Carte menu in the brasserie. The tasting menu isn’t served in January and so we were booked into the brasserie for 7.30pm.

Our suite at the front of The Wood Norton Hotel (room 101) overlooking the front courtyard was beautiful. Three large rooms with huge windows and sumptuous furnishings. The lounge area with space for at least 4 adults to sit if not more was warm and cosy and it was a shame we didn’t have longer to spend in there. If we had been travelling with the kids they would have loved to investigate the little hidey holes and would most definitely have initiated a game of hide and seek. Yes the rooms were that big!

The bedroom contained an enormous bed, which was even bigger than the super king we have at home. It was high and full of pillows and I always think there is something luxurious about climbing ‘up’ into a bed! Makes me feel like the Princess in Princess and the Pea.  There was also lots of little touches everywhere!

The bathroom that was almost as large as the bedroom! I do love a roll top bath, or perhaps I just love the chance to have a bath in peace in a beautiful room! Whatever it is I love about it, I dived into a bubble bath (with lots of lovely Molten Brown products) and just chilled out.

Caro and Richard joined us in our lounge when they arrived and then Caro announced it was 5pm and must be time for a Gin! So Gin it was and the bar had quite a collection. We put the World to rights in a quiet corner of the bar and only left as we realised it was 7pm and we needed to change for dinner.

It was a steak and chips kind of night as we all ordered slightly different variations of the same thing. My smoked mackerel pate was lovely and my fig tarte tartin finished off my meal beautifully. The gentlemen enjoyed a flight of desert wines to finish off the evening and we all retired happily to the bar to sort out more of the worlds problems!

It was really nice to just have chance to talk and to catch up in some gorgeous surroundings. After possibly one more glass of fizz than I needed I climbed happily ‘up’ into bed and slept soundly.

Sadly we had to rush off in the morning due to having to get the eldest back home for a Brownie Badge day, but we made time for a quick eggs florentine and a cappuccino! I wish every Sunday started with someone bringing me breakfast don’t you?

We had a lovely stay at The Wood Norton Hotel and thank them for inviting us all to stay.
