Things to do in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

We put together this post about Things to do in Playa Blanca for families when we were staying at a Villa in Puerto Calero about twenty minutes from Playa Blanca.

Play on the Pirate Ship – Things to do in Playa Blanca

We drove to Playa Blanca from Puerto Calero in about twenty minutes and parked up right next to a play area with a huge pirate ship in. It looked brand new and the girls had a good half hour playing on it. The black sand was a little tricky for their feet but they soon got used to it.

There was climbing frames on one side of it and slides on the other. They walked across the rope bridge and played through a re-enactment of Peter Pan, a current favourite film.

Things to do in Playa Blanca – Play on the Beach

We then made our way down to the beach, via the supermarket for 7 Magnum ice creams.  The girls discovered in Greece that they preferred Magnums to ordinary cornets, well why wouldn’t you! I do!

We walked along the promenade and found the white sandy beach.  On a island like Lanzarote which usually has black sand, Playa Blanca is a great find.  The beach even has hard sand to make sandcastles with, or mermaids like we did today.

Play on the Merry-Go-Round

We had to have a go on the merry-go-round but at 1 Euro for all 3 that’s not too bad at all.

The sea is cold, well it is the Atlantic, but that didn’t stop hubby and Dad taking the girls in for some wave jumping. After a fantastic holiday in Wales earlier this year. The girls think it it the law to strip off and head into the sea, whatever the weather.

As it was November and not school holidays, the beach wasn’t too busy at all.  It really wasn’t that big though so I can imagine that in the summer you could be fighting for space and having to watch your children much more carefully.  That is one of the added benefits of holidaying out of season, when there are less people you can easily see the little ones.

We had a lovely family day trip and will definitely be back if only to try the restaurants highlighted by this post by Mrs ATWAH on places to eat in Playa Blanca.
