We love kite flying at this time of year. The late afternoons are simply stunning on the Wirral Peninsula – the skies are amazing and the colours are beautiful. So I was a little sad to read that outdoor hobbies and skills are being lost because families can’t afford (or don’t know how) to leisure like they used to, according to a recent study by Visit No      rth Norfolk.
- 64% of adults have never moored a boat (I have to say we haven’t either though!)
- 42% have never flown a kite (a bi-weekly activity here)
- 51% have never gone crabbing (We love this, and have some great memories of doing this near Abersoch!)
- 48% have never navigated using a compass (this is actually on our list for the Summer and we are hoping to use Treasure Trails when we go to stay at Tattershall Lakes.

Looks great fun. We never managed to do this successfully!
Well we do live in a perfect place for kits flying don’t we?! I have to say I have never moored a boat either but would love to, it’s one of my goals to do a boating holiday. Oo – shall we?! 🙂
Some of my very best childhood memories are of flying a kite with my Dad. It’s something I really need to do more of with the kids. Your photos are beautiful! x
