Goldilocks and the Three Bears was performed by the Bookworm Players over the August bank holiday weekend at Speke Hall, Liverpool. We visited today and it was a really fun way to spend the afternoon. It’s especially good value for National Trust members as Tickets are only £5 each, £2 for under 2’s (above the usual admission rate) and it’s a lovely relaxed theatre show where you sit on picnic blankets (take your own) or benches/stools provided by Speke Hall.
The show only last 45 minutes which is the perfect length for the age of the audience (3-7) and had the little ones giggling hysterically. My three loved being involved in the show, they were part of the large forest and their role was to be a bowl of porridge (!). Apart from ‘loving everything about the show’ the kids ‘liked it because you got to be in it’ and thought it was ‘funny because the man dressed up as the mother’. I think the photos are a better way of showing you what they got up to!
However when discussing the day they deemed the Ice cream to be especially delicious and the best part of the day- not surprising really as Speke Hall has just installed a new Cheshire Ice Cream hut and there is a delicious array of ice cream on offer. The queue could move a little quicker but the ice cream is worth waiting for.
We are huge fans of Speke Hall and can’t beat if for a day out. Why not take a look at another review here!
NB: We were invited to Speke Hall to watch the show but all views are our own.
