Drayton Manor Glamping at Ready Camp Tamworth | Camping and Caravanning Club Site Review

Having been impressed with Ready Camp before on our visit to the Blackmore site in Worcestershire, we decided to head off for a 2 night stay at the Tamworth site (or as it’s often known Drayton Manor Glamping) to get away from it all and have some quality family time.

Ready Camp’s survey said that 42% of adults check work emails at the weekend. Hands up we’re guilty of this. We are also guilty of spending whole weekends catching up on household chores and doing the DIY jobs instead of making time to have fun with our kids. We needed a weekend away together!

Drayton Manor Glamping

We are regular campers during the summer months so why choose a Ready Camp tent for a weekend break instead of your own tent? The greatest advantage is the speed you get away on your holiday. My husband and I work full time and packing up for a weekend camping with 3 young kids can be a nightmare. Going with Ready Camp takes so much of the stress out of this as you just need your clothes, toiletries, food and bedding. It’s a relief to arrive on site and everything is already set up for you. To say it took 10 minutes, on arrival, to unpack is not exaggerating: bedding straight onto the beds; bags chucked in the rooms (our Baby Case is the perfect travel bag for this sort of holiday); and food stashed away in the fridge and cupboards and we were done! Time to let the kids loose to run some energy off and for us to pour ourselves a well earned glass of wine!

The site is well signposted so it was easy to find and surprisingly we had no issues with traffic queues throughout our whole weekend. On arrival you book in at Reception and are given your tent location and the barrier code. We pulled up outside the tent to unload then parked the car in the car park, which was right outside the Ready Camp area.

The site is a modest size but flat and the pitches are well maintained. The toilet block and washing up facilities are of the high standard we have come to expect from The Camping and Caravanning Club.  The site shop has a good stock of essentials but the supermarket is only a couple of miles away if you need a bigger shop. We wondered whether the noise of the theme park would be an issue? We can honestly say that we barely heard it all weekend. You can see the top of one roller coaster from the site but look around you and all you can see is green, blissful.

The thing that has impressed us most about the Ready Camp tents is what good quality they are: sturdy frame and heavy duty canvas, wooden decking floor and proper beds. The kitchen is equipped with a 2 hob stove, microwave and full-sized fridge plus all the crockery and utensils you need. There is a dining table and chairs that can be moved outside if you get good weather and a small 2 seater sofa that is perfect for the kids to chill out on. We love that Ready Camp have bedroom compartments that are made with blackout materials meaning that you aren’t woken up super early in the morning by the sun, and in the evening the kids can settle down to sleep even if it is still light outside.

After a relaxing couple of days playing, chatting, listening to music, making friends and barbecuing we sadly had to pack up and get back to real-life. It took less than an hour to pack up all our belongings to leave. You should leave the tents in a reasonable state so do the washing up and give the floor a quick brush and you’re good to go. To round off our weekend couldn’t deny the children the opportunity to go to Thomas Land and so we spent Sunday at the theme park and headed back home late in the afternoon. A perfect finish to a relaxing weekend. Now, the only question is – where shall we Ready Camp next… there are over 30 sites to choose from with camp sites across the UK!

NB: We were invited to Ready Camp as their guests but all views and opinions are our own and we loved our Drayton Manor Glamping.
