Family-Friendly Campsites UK

Are you looking for some great places to go camping, glamping and caravanning in the UK? We have a whole range of family reviews highlighting the best places to stay all over the UK.

If you’re looking to go glamping near London, you need to check out Feather Down campsite. Stay in huge safari tents just an hour’s drive outside of the city. If miles of unspoiled countryside and complete and utter peace and quiet sound great to you, then this is the place for you.

How does lakeside glamping sound? If your family love water sports then they’ll love the Tamar Lake in Cornwall. Either stay in your own tent or in glamping pods and spend your days enjoying activities such as sailing, gig rowing and raft building.

If you love the idea of staying in a spacious bell tent and having dinner around a camp fire, then Welsummer in Kent is ideal for your family. With big furry rugs and plenty of space for even a large family. this glamping spot is really idyllic.

  • Cloud Farm Camping in Exmoor

If you are looking for a quiet, secluded family campsite that gets you back into nature, then cloud farm is for you. You’ll need to take your own tent and it is more suited to older kids, as there are some open cliff tops, but with beautiful views and streams to paddle in, its a lovely family spot for a holiday.

Family-Friendly Hotels In The UK

Do you love a UK staycation? If you’re looking for some family friendly boltholes in the UK, then these accommodations are great for a family getaway:

If you are looking for a great family friendly hotel new Aberdovey, then Trefeddian is for you. The hotel is really kid-friendly. It has a games rooms, a lounge for younger children with books, playhouses, ride on toys, and a TV room.  There is also a treasure hunt for children around the hotel and outdoor play zones.

With crazy gold, adventure playgrounds and event stations where you can try out archery, laser clay shooting and mountain biking – Carden Park Hotel is a great family friendly place to stay near Cheshire.

This is a must stay if you are a Harry Potter fan and visiting Scotland. Close by you can ride the Hogwarts express and relive some of the films best moments at some of the locations they used for filming.

  • The Wave Hotel, Butlins, Bognor Regis

With themed kids beds and a huge games zone in the foyer, this is the ultimate hotel for kids and the perfect spot to be if you want to explore Bognor Regis.

  • Hinkley Island Hotel, Leicestershire

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring both Leicestershire and Warwickshire and its incredibly family friendly. A nice touch is that each child who is staying at the hotel is given a welcome activity rucksack with a range of different activities inside.

If you’re looking for a family getaway to Cornwall, then check out Sands Resort Hotel near Newquay. Central to lots of famous Cornish attractions and a stones throw from the beach, your family will love a little trip to here.

Family-Friendly Holiday Parks In The UK

Are you looking to stay in a family friendly holiday park? As a family we love holiday parks. They offer your family so much that you don’t even need to leave the park once you are there. We’ve listed a few of our favourite holiday parks below. If you’re considering a family break to a holiday park, you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Center Parcs is one of the most famous holiday park groups in the UK. Read our ultimate guide for recommendations of the best parcs to visit, as well as what to do while you are on site.

Not everyone loves Center Parcs. It may be out of your price range or it may be too big and too overcrowded, so I regularly get asked for alternatives to Center Parcs and what we might recommend.

In no particular order, here are 10 Family Friendly Alternatives to Center Parcs that you may want to consider – with reviews from me or other family travel bloggers.

Bluestone resort is a fantastic holiday village in Wales and is similar to Center. Close to the beach, you can either explore offsite or spend all of your time onsite making full use of all of the facilities. There are plenty of things to do for kids of all ages, including group activities for babies, toddlers, young kids and teenagers. There are pools, play parks and activities such as shooting and archery, as well as nature trails to explore and group activities such as bushcraft and panning for gold.

Up in Lancashire, Ribby Hall is a 5* holiday village near Blackpool which offers short breaks and family holidays with family activities a plenty.

Family-Friendly Self-Catering Cottages In The UK

We love going on mini staycations around the UK and nothing feels like home away from home than a self-catering cottage. Sometimes its nice to stay somewhere where you have your own kitchen to cook in and … Here’s some of our favourite family-friendly self catering cottages in the UK, all tried either by us or our Mini Traveller reviewers.

If you’re heading for a family getaway to Wales, you need to see these beautiful coastal cottages in Pembrokeshire. Pembrokeshire is a stunning, seaside town that is full of fun things for kids to do. Well worth a visit for a mini family break

Another place we highly recommend in Wales is The Granary. It’s really suitable for even the youngest of kids and its close to a castle and a zoo!

Greenwood Grange is a great family holiday cottage if you’re looking to explore Dorset.

Warren Holiday Cottages are great if you are planning a visit to somewhere like Drayton Manor (Thomas Land) or Leamington Spa. A family friendly farm, the kids will especially love seeing the free range animals wandering about.

If you are visiting the Cotswolds, we really recommend staying in Bruern Cottages. It is very child friendly, with plenty of toys for kids to play with, an onsite pool, play parks and so much more.

The Cartshed is an incredibly beautiful family friendly self-catering cottage in North Yorkshire. Close to lots of family friendly spots. You will really enjoy a stay here and you will especially love the wonderful gift basket on arrival.

Self-Catering Cottages In Cornwall

We have collected lots of reviews of self-catering cottages in Cornwall on Mini Travellers, so we’ve given them a mini section of their own. Cornwall is a great place to explore with your family and here are some of the loveliest places to stay.

Rumsdale is a perfect, cosy cottage close to Looe and Polperro. It’s family friendly and equipped with everything you need for a short family break away.

Close to Lostwhitiel, these farm cottages are great to stay in all year around. Yes, even in Winter! Not only are the cottages family friendly, but kids will love getting to help out on the farm during their stay. They’ll get to help feed pigs, goats, guinea pigs and rabbits should they wish! They might even get to collect an egg or two.

Another farm stay, Bosinver Farm cottages are really beautiful. Tucked away between St Austell and Mevagissey, Bosinver Farm Cottages are set on a 30-acre farm complete with friendly farm animals that kids can meet and feed. There are also so many onsite family friendly activities, you might not even want to leave!

  • Treworgey Cottages, Cornwall

Set in the Looe Valley, Treworgey Cottages are close to lots of famous Cornish attractions and towns. The cottages themselves are perfect for families of all ages and the cottages are set on a farm thats full of child friendly facilities. There is a heated outdoor pool, play areas a plenty, horse riding stables and so much more.

Close to Bodmin in North Cornwall, Glynn Barton Cottages are another great family friendly find. With outdoor areas specifically created for toddlers, as well as older kids, expect to find a maze, a games room, a mini football pitch, tennis courts, a swimming pool and so much more!
