1.Elderflower Fields 2019 – Family Friendly Festivals 2019

East Sussex 24-27th May 2019

At Elderflower Fields we enjoyed an eclectic mix of music over the weekend and it was wonderful to see the children enjoy the performances as much as we did. The highlight was seeing Ben Ottewell on the Woodland Stage. Just three weeks earlier I saw Ben with his band, Gomez, sell out the Royal Albert Hall. It was wonderful to be able to sit on hay-bales at the Woodland Stage with my family, and hear him sing again. Ben was joined on stage by two of his children, and then many more, including our two year old, who danced along with great excitement. The presence of the children seemed fitting for Elderflower Fields and Ben seemed to be enjoying their support, despite our two year-old charging around the stage. 6. Larmer Tree Festival 2019 – Family Friendly Festivals 2019

Cranbourne Chase 18-21st July 2019

Larmer Tree took a break for 2017, but you can read Zena’s Suitcase’s review of Larmer Tree Festival 2017 here.

In 2017 Zena’s Suitcase decided it was a little lacking in variety for children and whilst they had a fabulous weekend, maybe something was missing.  We are hoping that 2018 will be as good as 2016 and put this festival firmly back on the map.

Tickets are just being released now.  Early Bird tickets have sold out but Tier One tickets are now starting to be released.  Good news is that under 10’s are free for the weekend.

Adult weekend £179, 11 -17 yrs £112 and Under 10’s free.

9. Deer Shed Festival 2019 – Family Friendly Festivals 2019

North Yorks – 26th-28th July 2019

Deer Shed 10 will take place from 26th-28th July, comfortably within everyone’s summer holiday. Early bird tickets will be available from 10am on 6th September 2018 via www.deershedfestival.com/tickets.

It’s the people that make Deer Shed Festival so great! The success of this festival is its ability to cater for everyone and seeing how much fun the babies, children and teens have side by side, instils the festivals aim….. Family friendly.  From wash time for babies all sitting in little wash pots overflowing with bubbles; to an abundance of art tents for children to make just about anything, to the science tent where you can be lost for days in exploring the universe with The University of York, to soldering circuit boards.

Our reviewer asked lots of parents what they liked most about the festival set up and they all said … the size. Being able to have a short walk from your car to the camp site and onto the festival site was a huge bonus. You can pop back to your tent for lunch or children’s afternoon naps and the music tents are all in easy striking distance.

10. Kendal Calling 2019 – Family Friendly Festivals 2019

Lowther Deer Park, Lake District – 26th to Sunday 28th July 2019

Great music and kids area and carnival-themed crafts. On the website Kendal Calling say” The festival is a safe and family friendly festival. We have a dedicated kids area (Kids Calling) with everything from a mothers and babies tent to workshops for teens and all ages. As part of the standard ticket we have a dedicated Family Campsite. As well as that, we recommend the Emperors Fields campsite to families as it is smaller in size and has all the facilities in one place. However we must remind all that kids remain the responsibility of their parents & guardians and not the festival”

There is a great review by Potty Adventures of their trip to Kendal Calling with kids here and our latest review of Kendal Calling with a Baby from 2017.

11. Camp Bestival, Lulworth Castle – Family Friendly Festivals 2019

Dorset, 25-28th July 2019

Camp Bestival will take place from 25th– 28th July 2019

Four nights of camping doesn’t seem like enough time. Those who have been to Camp Bestival literally rave about it! A fellow blogger friend of mine Caro at Twinkle Diaries wrote at least 5 posts about it, and I’ll link to one here but do search her site for more posts on this well-known family festival.

Caro’s view is that “There are so many small boutique festivals popping up all over the country.  Family, art and food festivals — festivals that cater to all kind of musical persuasion — whatever your taste, there is sure to be a festival to suit you.  But if you have children, Camp Bestival is by far one of — if not —  the best festivals you can go to.” High praise indeed!

Here in this blog post is what we thought and how to get the most out of Camp Bestival 2019 if you do decide to go!

It started with the food but the Big Festival is now more than that. It’s held on ex-Blur bassist Alex James’s Cotswold farm, and is always a mixture of fabulous food and high-end celebrity spotting. Last year the musical line-up included Mark Ronson, Kaiser Chiefs and Tinie Tempah, along with chefs Raymond Blanc, Tom Kerridge and Jamie Oliver.

There is much for the smaller people to do with cookery classes and a Little Dudes’ Den which includes face painting, jam sessions and giant haystacks. A perfect family friendly festival for foodies.
