We stayed at Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages in Pembrokeshire in March 2013 when our eldest daughter was 2.5 and the twins were 18 months old.

We had to take an enforced weeks holiday in March and as we weren’t brave enough at that time to fly anywhere exotic, we decided to find somewhere not too far away from our home on the Wirral.

Every review I read of Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages in Pembrokeshire was excellent so we gave it a go.  Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages are on the Pembrokeshire Coast and the beaches are stunning. In March however, they are a little wetter that I would have preferred.

The weather was not, shall we say, kind.  It rained and it rained and it rained.

However Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages in Pembrokeshire know that the weather can be challenging in South Wales from time to time, so they make sure you can have a fantastic time regardless.

The daily farm walk to feed the animals takes place at 9.30am whatever the weather; and as wellies and all in one waterproofs are a must for Wales in March, we just popped these on and carried on.

On the daily feed walk the ‘farmer’ hands out buckets to the children and different types of feed, and off you go.  I have to say the girls were braver than me feeding hungry horses.

If you can’t face the rain, and there were days we couldn’t, there is an indoor play barn, and a heated indoor swimming pool at Croft Farm and Celtic Cottages in Pembrokeshire which never felt busy.

With armbands and rubber rings in toe we set off to the pool with three children and thankfully survived. The size of the pool, with changing rooms on the side, made it all easy to manage.

Our holiday was made extra special as we were upgraded on our arrival to the large Croft House, which sleeps 12 and was a real treat.

We couldn’t possibly have used all the bedrooms but we really appreciated the log fires, the Aga, and all the space for the children to run around.

The close by Folly Farm was a fantastic family day out (yes of course in the rain) and we made the most of our one rainless (ish) beach day by wrapping up warm and just playing in the puddles and the sand.

Fresh bread in the morning, and home made food delivered to your cottage in the evening, allowed me and hubby to have some well earned relaxation after the girlies were tucked up in one of the many bedrooms.

As we set off to depart we heard a weather report about snow on the Wirral and we actually made snow rhinos when we got home.  In retrospect maybe the weather in South Wales hadn’t been that bad after all!
