Cheshire Reindeer Lodge and Christmas Tree Farm – MOVED TO MOLD

Share

Updated: 11 November 2018 We understand that the Cheshire Reindeer Lodge and Christmas Tree Farm is now CLOSED at the Cheshire Oaks location and has moved to Mold.

Why not check out the Santa Experience at St Lukes Bombed Out Church in Liverpool.

Last year my brother and SIL were spending Christmas in Whitby, so they came to see us the weekend before Christmas instead. They were driving over from Bolton on the Friday so I had a look round for something Christmassy we could do during the afternoon with the kids. After a bit of googling I found a link for Cheshire Reindeer Lodge which is free to visit. It was also on the way for my brother, SIL and their two little boys so it broke up their journey a little bit.

The reindeer lodge (where Santa’s reindeers live all year don’t you know) is just of the M53 near The Blue Planet. It is mainly a place that sells Christmas Trees but the Christmassy attractions have been developed over the years. You can call in for free to see the reindeers and the other animals; lambs, goats and horses when we were there, but to do anything else you have to pay.

We had booked to see Santa and included in the price was an age related gift. Santa and his elves were very friendly and supportive of 3 out of the 5 not liking him very much. Santa was also very happy to be asked for yoyos for Christmas and said it made a change from the usual iPad request! You can book online to visit Santa this year.

The reindeers can be fed (you buy the food) and there are horses for the kids to ride which the elder two loved.

All in all we were probably only there a couple of hours (max). My overall view was that if it is close to you then something to call in and do, but probably not something to go out of your way for as there is probably not quite enough to do.

Tip: In all the advertisements it suggests you park in the Blue Planet car park which is £2.50. It’s worth trying to get a space on the road out of the front of the reindeer lodge as this is free. To park in the Blue Planet you also have to go into the Blue Planet to pay. This is a bit of a pain if you forget, load the kids into the car, get to the barrier and then realise you can’t get out without either a) unloading all three kids to take them in to pay or b)leaving all 3 in the car crying whilst you leave them and run in!
