New Menu for Spring at Beefeater Grill

Share

This week I visited the Beefeater Grill nearest us, The Glegg Arms, to try out the new Spring menu.  I visited with my neighbour, her little boy and my 4 year old twins whilst our older children were at school.

We got the kids sorted out with their food first. The menu at the Beefeater Grill is themed with Mr Men and Little Miss and I really like the fact that the kids can choose what they want to eat from the pictures and swap in any sides they want. It is also really well priced at £5.49 for two courses including a drink of squash; in fact kindly re-filled squash when the first one went all over the table in seconds.  The kids quickly chose and then set about wanting to play with something.  Unfortunately the Beefeater had run out of kids activity packs but my neighbour had a bag full of stuff to keep them entertained.

For me and my friend it was slightly harder to choose.   There are over 30 new items on the Spring Menu so we decided to have a few starters between us instead of limiting ourselves to two mains. We chose four starters – Chicken Caesar Salad flatbread, Lamb Kofta with salad and flatbread, Ham Hock Terrine and Salt Beef with Gherkin. The portions (for starters) were very generous and we would’ve easily managed with just three. The Chicken Caesar flatbread particularly would easily pass as a light bite on its own.

All of our choices were delicious. Much better than we had hoped they would be. Often a side salad is a little bit of lettuce and often it’s not very nice. The side salad with the Kofta was a very nice bit of greek salad with feta and olives. We asked for some additional Caesar dressing for the salad that came with flatbread but only because it was really nice and we wanted to eat more of it.   We didn’t actually have a lot of room for the Ham Hock or the Salt Beef (and definitely not the Ciabatta that came with them) but they too were lovely.

The children’s meals were an OK size, not huge, and I think had the kids been any older they would have been too small but for our 3 and 4 year olds they were enough. Enough to mean they finished them and still had room for pudding.

The children’s pudding options were a little different. Not too different but they had a couple of nice touches. Chocolate brownie with dipping sauce and ice cream with smarties and curly sweets.  I did say we were too full to finish our starters however we did manage to eat a children’s chocolate cookie dessert between us!

We finished off our lunch with a quick play in the playground as the sun had come out briefly.

The bill came to £43 which I thought was excellent value for money for 5 of us for lunch.  Why not check out Beefeater’s new Spring Menu.

Nb: We were invited to review the new Spring menu but all views are my own.
