As a mum of three, I’ve definitely had and tried my fair share of baby wraps, with varying levels of success. What struck me straight away about the Amawrap was the lovely, eco-friendly packaging and I instantly connected with the product and with the founder of Amawraps and her story.
The Amawrap product
Firstly, the 100% cotton sling was so soft and incredibly lightweight. Having used a similar style sling in the past, I noticed the difference in the quality of the fabric straight away and wondered if it would be strong enough to hold my wiggly 18 month daughter. We went for oyster grey which is a lovely neutral colour to wear with any outfit and which my hubby is happy to wear too.
The story of Amawrap

It is generous, donating free slings to hospitals to support premature babies and their parents.
And it has great customer service providing one-to-one skype consultations if a customer needs extra support with using their product. All of which is all great, but how did it actually perform?
Is the Amawrap easy to use?
The baby sling comes with a step-by-step photo manual which guides you through the three different carry positions. There is also a link to this helpful three minute video which guides you through how to wrap your baby. I must admit that I didn’t do this very well on my first attempt but on my second one I got my little girl sitting comfortably in the sling. All slings take a bit of time and practice for you and baby to get used to them, but I did get used to the feel of the Amawrap very quickly and over time these things become second nature.
What about the sizing of the Amawrap?
It is one size fits all. All parents and all babies. As I mentioned our 18 month old fit in and I still had plenty of fabric to spare. Dad is taller than I am – but he’s had a go too and it’s just as comfortable on him.
Is the Amawrap adaptable?
The sling can be used from newborn up to 33lbs (which is about three years old) so it can definitely grow with your child. That being said, not all wiggly toddlers like to be carried – unless their little legs are tired! I would suggest buying an Amawrap when your baby is young to get them used to the feel of it. If they are used to hearing your heart, being held close facing inwards, then it is more likely that that will be their happy place when they are a bit older.
Is the Amawrap worth the money?
The Amawrap slings retail from £39.99-£49.99 depending on colour. They have 10 different colours to choose from including two stunning floral patterns. They are priced similarly to many of their competitors (although you can get slings cheaper). But for me, it’s definitely a worthwhile investment. Not only is it great quality and will adapt with your growing child but what’s not to love about supporting UK-based, ethical companies (especially by mumpreneurs!)?
