1. Morfa Nefyn – 5 Free Days Out for Kids Near Abersoch to consider.

The beach itself is well worth the walk.  It is a lovely clean beach with shells and is perfect sand for castle building.  The sea is calm and perfect for paddling in.What sets this beach apart is the pub (and the fact there is toilets – we do after all have toddlers!).  Sitting right there on the beach is the Ty Coch Inn.  Serving countless types of beer and lager, what looked like great food (we had a picnic in one of the many bags) and really good coffee.

2. Eat Fish & Chips in Criccieth

Well worth a trip is  â€˜Castle Fish and Chips‘ to eat Fish and Chips overlooking the beach. There is also a Castle in Criccieth if you’d like to explore.

Black Rock Sands If you are thinking of traveling to Abersoch or Pwhelli this summer, here are 5 Free Days Out for Kids Near Abersoch to consider.

3. Spend a day Crabbing at Black Rock Sands

You head into Porthmadog, and turn up the road at the side of the Factory Shop.  You pretty much drive to the end of that road until you see the signpost to the beach. It costs £6 to park on the beach, you need cash but there is an attendant so you don’t need  change.  Just near the entrance there are toilets and a burger van ( we didn’t try it but it seemed popular).  Out of season this beach was empty (it may not be so idylic in August!). What we loved about the beach was the vastness, the rock pools and the fact that you could take your car on the beach. We could leave the picnic in the car, we could leave the girls sleeping in it if we needed to do so, and when we were done with the fun, we could very quickly pack up and head home.

4. Find peace and quiet at Porth Ceriad

Peaceful with stunning scenery.  People do say it is difficult to find, and after driving up quite a lot of the wrong country lanes (that were very thin, and praying I didn’t meet anyone coming the other way) I have to agree.  You drive through Abersoch and then take a left just before a gate with a road sign and a sticker on!!! This is in fact exactly what you do (you don’t have to drive up all the other country lanes) but the said sticker is a little difficult to see so we did pass it the first time!

portmerion If you are thinking of traveling to Abersoch or Pwhelli this summer, here are 5 Free Days Out for Kids Near Abersoch to consider.

5. Exploring at Portmerion

Not actually free at £8.50 per adult (£8 for concessions) and free for Under 5’s,  but we really did enjoy the sights. The full write up (here) is more of a gallery post as the beauty of Portmeirion is in the colours and the photographs.  We think it is a lovely place for Mini Travellers to spend a few hours exploring and the views were incredible.

  1. These photographs are fantastic and the beaches are stunning. As a child, we used to go to Wales a lot for holidays. It is gorgeous there and there is so much for families to do. Thanks for linking up to Sunday Stars. Hugs Lucy xxxx
