I love my caravan so much I’d be happy to live in it and just travel the world with the kids and hubby. Sadly that’s a pipe dream but my caravan remains my pride and joy.

Admittedly I like my home comforts when we are caravanning so I thought it would be fun to share a some of the things that I’ve picked up along the way to ensuring that extra element of luxury that are relatively low cost and most importantly when towing – low weight.

Here are my top 12 caravanning ‘luxuries’ that I can’t do without!

1. Rubber Backed Bath Mats

Rubber Backed Bath mats great for throwing on the floor in the caravan to keep it clean and dry in wet weather and great for taking along to the toilet block so you don’t have to change on cold, wet tiled floors.

2. Cushions for the sofa

I like to be comfy when I sit down whether on the sofa in the van or on the camping chair in the awning. We have a Go Travel 2 in 1 Travel Pillow which converts from a comfy neck pillow, that you can use whilst being a passenger in the car, to a small cushion/ rectangle pillow which can be used in the caravan.

3. Bedsheets

Just so much nicer to sleep on than a bare mattress.

4. Washing Basket

Washing basket keeps the caravan tidy as all the dirty clothes and towels go in one place. It also makes transporting the washing to the laundrette easier.

5. TV and DVD player

We don’t use it all the time but if the weather is naff its great to put on a film for the kids to unwind before bed.

6. Hand held vacuum

Just so easy to hoover up crumbs,  bits of grass, pet hair that make the caravan looks really dirty in no time at all.

7. Air freshener

Having three young kids means that the portaloo gets used a lot sometimes against our caravan rules, but sometimes it can’t be helped. A good quality air freshener helps get rid of those unwanted odours!

8. Coleman 360 Sound and Light

The Coleman 360 Sound and Light is a powerful light for in the awning but you can also plug an iPod or phone into it and have music or audio books playing out loud.  You can read our full review here.

9. Rotary washing line

Keeping up with the washing for 5 can be hard work especially if you are struggling to get things dry. This helps massively and folds up nice and small for easy transportation.

10. Electric kettle

A kettle on the hob is fine but an electric travel one is more convenient and saves gas when you’ve got electric hook-up.

11. Lightweight towels

We love the Go Travel microfibre Beach/Sport towel for on the beach as it doesn’t hold sand, it rolls up really small and dries super fast: perfect for out and about as well as after showering. You can read our full review here.

12. Gas BBQ

This doesn’t fit the criteria of the post necessarily but we love our Campingaz Party Grill 600 it is definitely a luxury we love to cook food on. It’s a little on the heavy side so has to be considered in our loading of the van, however, we just love its versatility for cooking all our favourite dishes.
