Trecombe Lakes – AMAZING!

A Cornish Mum aka Stephanie Couch got in touch to share with us her review of the amazing Trecombe Lakes. Stephanie or Stevie writes a lifestyle blog with beautiful photos. You should pop over and have a nosey around like I did when uploading this. Stevie can also be found tweeting @stevie_couch.

In 2013 we stayed at an amazing place that I want to tell you about. It’s Trecombe Lakes which is just five minutes away from Falmouth in Cornwall. Of all the holidays we have been on this small 3 night stay within an hours drive has to be one of my favourites!

I’m not a great one for camping, wayyyy too many insects for my liking, not to mention the horrendous state of most communal camping toilet facilities. However after going to Trecombe I could definitely get used to the idea of Glamping!

There are 4 luxury pods to choose from, although as far as I could tell the main difference between them was their name and the bedding inside?! Our pod was so cosy, with a small though fully functioning and impeccably clean bathroom.

At one end of the pod was our very comfortable double bed, and at the other were two single beds for the boys with a well thought out fold up table between them. This table was perfect for board games, and for them to keep their magazines and toys on and under. There were even beanbags for the boys to slouch into, which they loved as they have not been allowed one at home ever since the ‘lucky dip’ incident. This was where they decided to hide all their small toys in an old bean bag chair, and then ‘lucky dip’ them out putting thousands of beans all over their bedroom in the process!

The pod even had a fab little kitchen area, although admittedly we were naughty and ate out the whole time. The kettle of course was overused the whole time we were there, Mr Perfect is a true Cornishman through and through and really feels that tea is his own personal fuel to get through the day.

Outside of the pod was a brilliant fire pit, which made the evenings really cosy whilst we sat around it with our hot chocolates. There was also a decking area right outside, and a barbecue provided for our use, although since we went in October we didn’t get to try that out, but what a lovely idea! There was also acres of woodland and lakes to explore, and a rowing boat to use.

The only tiny downside I would say to the play area that they had there is that its aimed at older children, and possibly a mini person play area would be an excellent idea for them in the future. However they do also provide board games, dressing up outfits, tennis rackets with a net and other items in their small communal lodge house, that anyone can use! There were even 2 small bikes there, which one of my sons learnt to ride a bike for the first time on so thank you so much for that Trecombe! In this small lodge house as well is a washing machine, tumble dryer and I seem to remember there was an ironing board and iron as well. They really do seem to have thought of everything.

Anyway as you have probably guessed I would really recommend that anyone try a stay at Trecombe Lakes, it really does not disappoint.

Note: This review was not commissioned by anyone nor endorsed by Trecombe Lakes, this is merely my own musings and well deserved praise.

Just to let you know Trecombe Lakes responded in a lovely email and have said that they are hoping to try to install some play equipment for younger children in the near future….I will definitely be revisiting once they have!
