Fabulous Family Holiday at The Granary with Sykes Cottages

Share

So on the 13th July we set off on our holiday to Wales to stay in a gold standard caravan in the Pensarn area of North Wales. On arrival at the site first impressions weren’t great but as you do on your family holiday you smile to the kids and agree to make the most of it. After the first afternoon and evening we discovered numerous issues with the caravan and the site itself and started to look for somewhere else to stay. We wanted to stay in the same sort of area as there are numerous outdoor activities to do and places to see. I therefore contacted Sykes Cottages who offered me four different cottages all within the area we wanted to stay. This was approximately 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon. By 6.00pm that day we were shaking hands with the owner of The Granary.

I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. As I currently have three children all under 5 safety and security are at the top of the list. When looking at the cottages available The Granary had amongst other things a secure walled garden attached to the property which sold it straight away.

On arrival you drove into a beautifully presented court yard off which were three different cottages. The two bedroom cottage was split over two levels with a large entrance hallway off which lead the spacious kitchen dinner and a very nice lounge area with plenty of seating and patio doors out to the walled garden. Upstairs there were two well furnished bedrooms both with en suites with the bonus of the main bathroom having a large corner bath.  Important for those with young children you can lock/open the door from the outside, which makes for safety at night and it avoids the children locking themselves in.

Looking round the property there were numerous things to make a family holiday easier. The kitchen was well equipped with fridge, freezer, washing machine (essential for grubby children), dishwasher, oven and microwave. The owner had also left cleaning products, bin bags, dishwasher tablets and cleaning clothes. There was also a child’s high chair, two clothes airers, iron and ironing board. The beds were comfortable and included bed linen and the bathrooms all had fresh towels, toilet rolls and bin bags.

The cottage is situated five minutes off the A55 which is the main route through North Wales. The cottage is in the grounds of a working farm and is in a very quiet location with the nearest village being just over a mile away. From the windows of the cottage the children were delighted to be able to see chickens, ducks, two donkeys and a small horse.

We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage which was perfect for a family of five and it was a perfect base for us to visit all the nearby attractions and then come back to the cottage to play and at night rest.  During our stay we visited Bodelwyddan Castle and the Welsh Mountain Zoo both of which got the thumbs up from our children.

I would definitely use Sykes Cottages again when looking for a family holiday.

NB: We stayed at The Granary as guests of Sykes Cottages but all views are our own.
