6 Reasons We Loved Levante Beach, Rhodes

Our family holiday {Levante Beach, Rhodes}

Our recent family holiday to Rhodes, Greece had a lot to live up to. Primarily because it was our first ever holiday abroad together as a family of four. Previously, pre-children, my Husband and I loved to travel the world and so we wanted to make new some memories with as a family that we could keep forever.

1/ Chartered flights

We were up pretty early (3am!) on the Saturday morning in order to make it to Heathrow, Terminal 5 for our flight. After a few hours driving, then parking and checking in, we waited to be called. The twins were really excited and couldn’t wait to get onto the aeroplane. The British Airways (BA) flight was 4 hours and I was dreading this but we had plenty of sticker books, iPads and snacks, which all helped. We were soon landing. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Mark Warner charter their flights, which means that nearly everybody on the plane was going to Levante Beach. This was good because we got chatting to a few families who we then saw and became friendly with throughout the week.

2/ A 5 star resort

The resort itself is impressive, extremely clean and of a very high standard. With a huge lobby, spa, 4 outdoor pools, 2 indoor pools, shop, tennis courts, a children’s play area, kids club, restaurants and bars, as well as being situated on a private beach with a full range of water-sports – Levante has everything you can imagine.

We stayed in a deluxe suite was large and split into two separate rooms for the twins and us; a big sliding door shut the two rooms off. There were heaps of wardrobe space and a good sized bathroom with complimentary toiletries, a bath, separate shower and double sink. Plus a patio area for sitting in the evening. We had a beach view and it was beautiful. The rooms were cleaned every day.

The only thing we were a little disappointed with was that wifi didn’t work in our rooms; nonetheless it did work really well throughout the hotel and pool/bar areas.

3/ Food & drinks

We were on the half board option and so breakfast and dinner was included. The main restaurant serves a buffet style breakfast and evening dinner. This is 5.15pm-6.15pm for the children and then main dinner starts at 7.30pm (although anyone can eat at both sittings – children are also very welcome in the evening).

There was so much choice from the breakfast and evening meal buffet. They themed the evening meals such as Greek, Italian etc. It was such delicious food and we ate a lot of it!

Drinks weren’t included (except for juice & water for the children’s meal, and juice & water at breakfast). The drinks were very reasonable though – a bottle of wine was around £8 and a beer around £3.

The local Greek waiting staff were extremely friendly and polite and the service was impeccable.

4/ Kids Club

Our twins were booked into childcare every afternoon, 2.30pm-5.30pm. The childcare is included in the price of the holiday and you can select mornings or afternoons. There are various classes (babies, Mini’s, Juniors etc). The twins were in a group of about 6 children who were of all their own age which was really lovely and they made some nice friends.

They also do a movie night from 7.30pm each evening (also included in the cost of the holiday). You take your children in their PJ’s with a favourite teddy/blanket and they all watch a movie together with the Nannies. So cute!

I genuinely thought our children would dislike the movie nights but they loved it and adored being with their new friends. If any kids want to fall asleep then they have little camp beds each for during and then after the movie.

Before we got to Levante Beach I knew that Mark Warner had fantastic childcare facilities but I wasn’t sure how the twins would feel about going to Kids Club in a strange place. The Nannies (all British, and fully qualified) were so helpful, considerate and fun and our twins sincerely LOVED going.

As a result of seeing other children and parents each day at Kids Club, and the around the pool areas, we subsequently made some lovely new friends – who we have swapped emails with regarding meeting up at home!

5/ Plenty to do

It took us a few days to settle in, but then we quickly got a little routine going. After breakfast we would either go to one of the pools, play tennis, go to the play area or go to the beachfront. There is so much choice throughout the resort and we never felt bored. Levante has something for all ages and to keep everyone entertained.

6/ Watersports & beachfront

Whether you’re into sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or simply want a first lesson/to have a go, the beach waterfront has it all. One morning we took the twins out on a kayak each which was great fun. The beach was always a hive of activity and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

We really have had a serious case of the holiday blues since we returned. Our week in Rhodes was superb and we miss the place a great deal. Seeing the children throw stones into the beach of an evening or seeing them laughing in the pool was utter perfection and exactly what we wanted from our family holiday.
